  1. Good news, the rear derailleur was quickly replaced and only set me back 1,500B + 200B for the pickup from where I broke down. Bad news, they replaced the derailleur with the wrong model so it jams when I try to shift up into the two highest gears. Not worth the time and effort to go back to the shop to have them do it correctly, instead ordered the correct model from Lazada for 1,200B which should arrive from China in about a week. Meanwhile the bike is still rideable, so did a group ride with friends this morning and when we were near Huai Chak Nok Reservoir, split from the group to get a ph

  2. Just a few pics from town today... Beach Rd end of Klang about midday. Showing how quiet it is, but far from the deserted images from the European major cities. Klang towards the beach. Beach Road looking South. The Beach looking South. The Beach looking North. The much changed exchange rates, Soi 7 Soi 8

  3. Greetings Monkeywatchers and core coon crap for joining us once again, though you probably haven’t got much else to do at the moment. Ho hum. Predictably, the Kung Flu is still dominating the news in Pattaya. City Hall has announced that pretty much everything has been cancelled for the next six months, including Songkran, the Pattaya Music Festival and the Beach Road Frog Trampling Contest. A long list of cancelled events has been published, though most people don’t seem to have been aware that most of these events existed in the first place. As Joni Mitchell once said, you don’t know w

  4. In my latest pic of the Soi 6 drain, you can see to the left of the black, plastic drain the concrete drain that I'm pretty sure ties into the laterals coming in from the different sois along Beach Rd. I believe the new drains are meant to supplement the existing storm water drainage, and all lead to the pumping station at the south end of Beach Rd.

  5. I think you are expecting a lot from these carriers in these times. Quite possible they have staffing problems themselves and likely a shit load of complaints, refund requests and stuff to deal with. All the while looking bankruptcy in the face themselves. Somebody in lock down at home with too much time on their hands sending email after email about a refund of a few hundred quid they haven't got, or to cancel and move a booking for the 12th time, seems petty, when looking at what is happening around the world. They deliberately have an MO that deters complainants to the point of exh

  6. I have found myself counting from events where I put myself at risk.... every day is a plus if I wake up without a fever! I think my trip to immigration March 10th is no longer an issue... that would have been ironic as it was for a Re-Entry Permit I ended up not needing. I still have concerns over an Expats Club meeting and a visit to the dentists ..what a way to live life!

  7. They accepted it because they had no choice. But these days we have a choice and people and governments are having to make difficult choices everyday. Some are choosing to prioritise old peoples lives over keeping their economies going. Some are choosing to keep economies going over old peoples lives. Some are trying to do a bit of both. Each country (and city and region and state) is having to wrestle with that problem. Despite the tinhat brigade on here there is no overwhelming deepstate that's running things.

  8. Y'all can thank me for the rain. Filled the rainwater collection tank last night from the water truck, so no surprise it's raining buckets of water 12 hours later.

  9. I flew back from Bangkok to Amsterdam with KLM on Wednesday and the evening before I got an email that if I had made other arrangements could I please let them know as there were a lot of people desperate to get back and they could use the seat.I replied I would be on the flight. Saw a report that the cabin staff of KLM were understandably worried about the virus and then got another mail saying there would be limited service on board,no alcohol, hot drinks and one hot meal, " bring snacks" and I did no problem.thats how it was. Once we took of they repeated what was in the mail no bo
