  1. Thought I make the most of the hot weather (without knowing that today was going to be the hottest day of the year so far) and take myself down to the River Thames for a walk. Started in Brentford, over Kew bridge and down the towpath, through Richmond to stop of for a few beers at work, and then carried down to Teddington where I called it a day and took the bus home! 2. I lived in lower Sukhumvit for seven years, until early this year. Hadn't been back for four months. It's a bit different, first things you notice now is the uncongestion and the clean air. There's social distancing everywhere, in the malls and restaurants. I always felt cramped living here because things were sized for Thais, but now I can enjoy my space. Even had a free seat next to me on the bus coming in and out of town and didn't have to pay for it. Gateway Mall I booked the Rembrandt Hotel on Soi 18 for half the regular price, there are some excellent domestic

  3. I had a couple of trips to LoS in the second half of 2019, so not missing it as badly as some seem to be. In fact, I've enjoyed the last few months of 'lockdown' in the UK, as it has allowed me time and opportunity to do so many projects on my main property here that would not otherwise have been prioritised. I'm not bothered about a 2020 visit and won't be hopping on a plane until there's a reliable treatment for C19 or better still a vaccine, and even when a vaccine arrives I'm not sure I want to be first in the queue to try it. I will return, but only when it's responsible to do so and stat

  4. In my ( unqualified ) opinion, it will be Easter of 2021 before any degree of "normality" returns. Even then, I suspect the definition of "normality" will need to be re-written.

  6. Are you aware that Liverpool are owned by Fenway Sports Group who also own the Red Sox? Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal all have strong Irish connections.

  7. Was reading the Cambodia forums just yesterday and apparently the big money guys are going nuts about the $3000 deal. They have empty hotels that need filling. It won't last long at all is the common opinion.

  8. Thanks so much Firth, this area was my stamping ground when I lived in East Sheen in the 80s. Brings back memories, especially of pub nights near the beautiful Richmond Bridge. Very low water levels in some of those pics, don't remember them that low in the 80s but I may be wrong.

  9. Much appreciated pic report. You mentioned a few places I am familiar with.... no more Windsor Suites for me eh? The pic of your hat, sitting on a stuffed elephant, well I will not say what it looked like at first glance!

  11. With all the money we have printed lately, I hope in a way others benefit. This thing about a nation's currency...even after 50 years of paying attention is difficult to grasp at times. I hope you and your countrymen do well and far into the future. Thanks for your perspective!

  12. Any BM can use the reputation system within the rules, and expect not to be called a coward, something you seem to like to do. Your post had 23 references to USA, USA Cities, teams or players, and only 3 to the UK, where the Premiership is. We need not discuss this.

  15. Three women were sitting in a bar, (brunette, redhead, and a blonde). They were all pregnant. The brunette says, "I know what I'm going to have." The other to asked how. She replied, "Well I was on top when I conceived so I will have a baby boy". The red head said, "If your logic is correct then I will have a baby girl because I was on the bottom when I conceived. The blonde starts crying and orders another shot and starts screaming, "PUPPIES, PUPPIES!".

  18. Yes. In many ways all of our sports are equally popular in the USA. In your football, there is also relegation which we don't have. A club can be in the top league one year, back down the next and then back up again. Being in a lower league does bot mean you won't play a team(s) from an upper league for a cup. We have nothing like that. We have lower leagues but it is players that move up or down (or overseas) and not teams (owned by top clubs for player development). Even our pro "soccer" league has no relegation. Your football is far more about community than anything we have. My late b
