Nationwide automatically apply a £300 maximum per day limit, used to be £500 but they lowered it last month.

cheers bergerac, just phoned and booked 68J out and 70J back. The lady at thai airways did say J and K 68,69,70, are always amongst the 1st reserved, and that for my flights I had the last one of the 6 on each flight. Does anybody know if Thai operate front and rear exit @ Bangkok on the London flights ?

Thanks steve, I`ve tried to email a couple of times but keep getting a email failed to deliver message.

OnMyWay gave this review of the place last year. http://www.pattayatalk.com/forums/index.ph...opic=16667&st=0 I recall someone later saying it was up for sale and a change of ownership was on the horizon. Does anybody know if the place is still up and running ? Any information and views would be appreciated.

Tom, thank you for that very good bit of advice, i normally do ask for a rear seat, mainly because i find that if there are empty seats more often than not it is at the rear and a quick move just before take off can be worthwhile, but now due to your excellent knowledge i will get something mid plane. I owe you a beer or two. Ranger.

cheers marleyboy. Regarding the aisle seat and only ever getting one person jumping over you, whenever i fly on my own I request a Middle aisle seat if its 3-4-3 config, then you only get the peson next to you going over you ,the other 2 will go the opposite way.

Marleyboy, do you know which aircraft type Thai use on the LON-BKK route.

Just went to book with last minute and they add a £5 delivery charge at the end although its an e ticket .Still a superb price, up around only £25 on last years prices booking in jan for june flights. So give or take a few pennies Expedia and Lastminute are around the same price for june deps .

Gerald, it will be a codeshare with Qantas, and you can get it for £440 inc taxes with Opodo.

redwood13, thank you very much for the reply and link its appreciated. What i was trying to find out was is there a way of obtaining a 60/90 day visa on arrival in Thailand,or must it be done in the UK prior to my flight into Bangkok. .
-
Thinking of having an extended trip next time (6 weks) all my other trips have been 2/3 weeks so i have never had to worry about the visa situation. Am i correct in thinking that i need to apply in the UK before i go if i intend staying for over 30 days or can i do it when i get to Thailand at immigration ?

Tom At least we have established that some of the extra we pay on top of the airfare "is something to do with the goverment" and a tax.
-
TOM , your link to the list shows that only a few airlines apply the surcharge when flying from the UK. APD went up last year ,very obviously you do not know the current situation in the UK. Take a google look at last years UK BUDGET and AIRPORT PASSENGER DUTY and you will learn a bit about your industry and how it is "something to do with the goverment".
-
Cheshire tom, Its correct name is Airport passenger duty (tax). It was introduced by the conservative goverment in november 1993. In the last budget Gordon Brown declared that Labour would freeze this duty (tax) and keep it at its current rate next year.due mainly to the airlines campaign against the recent massive increases. In 2003 it raised £900 million for the treasury, good knows how much now. If you think it has nothing to do with the goverment fair enough. It is a stealth tax as highlighted in the last election. The airline fuel surcharges are on top of th

I was there in june. VIc 1 of the owners does a great job running the place, no hassles at all during my stay. Drinking wise I prefer the Lord Nelson up the street (same owners). Only 4/5 of the rooms occupied at the time of my stay, the 2 maids were really good always laughing and joking with me i would always make sure i would bring back ice cream or drinks for them when returning from breakfast. If you have trouble with the stairs request a lower floor, i stayed on the top floor with a balcony overlooking soi 6 in a good size room, the only trouble was with the dvd player which

Thai air flights from heathrow in Jan now have £101 airport tax and charges. Its fucking scandelous. Blair and his stealth taxes last time i ever vote for those bunch of bastards. Went to Madrid 2 weeks back cost of return flight £29.99 plus £ 41.50 in airport tax

I can 2nd flymonkeys choice above. Great mix of kiwis and British in there for the All Blacks v British lions tests. The kiwi owner whos name i forget is a top host with free food at half time, and good banter during the games. And the ST bars all around are great if the rugby gets boring

Got a bit addicted to the one at the top of soi 3 on my last trip in june. Does the soi 8 chicken kebab place earlier mentioned do it in a similar style or is it more like the kebabs served in Britain.

Leave the Apex well alone, turned up 7pm on christmas day a couple of years ago with a email of my resevation only to be told hotel totally booked up. I asked to see the manager who after hiding in the corner sheepishly eventually talked to me and said I would have to wait 2 days if I wanted a room, but they could get me a room for the 2 nights at some shit hole up on 3rd rd which I eventually stayed at for 1 night . I will never stay at the Apex again, their attitude is stinking.

The Nationwide flex account atm rate will not be beaten it gives very near the real mid price bank rate along with no fees or commission. On average you get around 4% (£40/£1000) more baht this way than going the Tc or cash route. Just remember to take another card and a few hundred quid cash for back up.

Can confirm the above, my mate works for THG and that is what he told me when I asked about flights for the 1st week of november. Wait until mid to late august.
