You don't keep frozen food for emergencies. You do not want to be at the mercy of technoligical failures
Freeze dried. Canned. Fresh fruit like apples last a long time. Potatoes, onions....beer. Not to be scoffed at. How many guys in Pattaya have as their major source of fluid beer? It also has carbohydrates.
We are talking short and long term emergencies from natural disasters and not thawing for a BBQ.
First you need water. In harsh environments you will be in trouble after three days if not sooner. You can live three weeks of limited activity without food.
In emergencies you don't want to depend on technology. Technology isolates us and insolates us from nature. When it disappears is the problem.
Well technically I dont keep anything for emergencies but only go grocery shopping once a month.

... and how many hundreds of litres of petrol ?
Seriously, do you live in such an isolated area? in a place who get regularly flooding that lasts weeks? in an area where electric power cut of more than 24 hours are frequent ?...
And for most expat members, who - I think - live in or near cities, please enlighten me of what kind of event could require that you keep "emergency supplies" for more than 24 hours ?...
I work long hours so don't wanna be wasting my weekends doing mundane stuff like grocery shopping so I do a monthly buy up, for bread and milk I grab that from the 7/11 and bakery, both of which are a 2 minute walk from home.
Power used to go out often but usually not for more than an hour or 2, the genset is a freebie from work and its here to keep the fish tank running during those outages.
I hope that satisfies your curiosity.

ive enough food (frozen and canned) and water to last me a month and a genset to keep the fridge and freezer powered.
-
I hope the fine is large and the deportation quick.

Does anyone know how the tunnel handled the much publicised recent rains that had some of the usual sois doing river impersonations.
Bit of rain the other night, Tunnel was fine and for it to flood the water would need to be higher than this walk over.

In case you missed it, reported by Pattaya One News. Most interesting in the article was the report the underpass extractor fans weren't working. Another fine example of Thai workmanship at its best.
Wasnt the opening delay due to not being able to find qualified operators to run the tunnel, and now they are saying vital safety systems are defective ?
-
So now you will be able to race through the Klang intersection .....only to wait at the Pattaya Tai intersection.! For the cost of this one tunnel they could have built 3 overpasses at all the major junctions, probably in a similar time frame.
A tunnel under Tai and threpasit is planned.
Doing my weekly shopping at foodland yesterday it was nice to be finally able resume my normal route, shopping and travel time under an hour its been years since that was possible unless I went shopping at 6am.

Make sure your piss is clean and you wont have any issues, unless you are caught balls deep in an on-site short time room.
-
Rockhouse fits this criteria.
Bwahahahahahahahaha !!
-
Yes, so you can arrive at another set!
Then they start on the Tai to threpasit tunnel.

My 2006 one runs fine and looks okay so I will keep it.
The Mrs still has one that I bought second hand about then too.
Upgrade....as I age I am thinking my motorbike will have to go soon anyhow, not to be replaced.
Good for you.
-
Nice quick sale, congrats.
Been thinking of selling mine to upgrade to a new one.
Mine is 2012 model with alloy rims and combi brakes. Has 7400km on the odo.
Was hoping I could get 25k for it, seems this is an achievable number.

My health insurance covers me in foreign countries. I pay the bill and my insurance company reimburses me.
Your health insurance happily covers your known treatment outside of you home country ?

Another story about the Songkran rules..
"The effort to reduce road mishaps and encourage all Thais to celebrate the Songkran festival properly, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha yesterday reiterated a tough measure to deal with drunk drivers, and to make on the spot arrest topless dancers on streets.
He said authorities must impound their vehicles immediately if drivers are drunk, and passengers must also cooperate by rejecting the rides on their vehicles.
He said “drivers must not drink while driving. Everyone wants to go home quickly but they could be killed travelling on their vehicles.”
He urged passengers to warn these drunk drivers and the police must stop drunk drivers.
As to the inappropriate dancing on the streets by teenagers showing their breasts, the prime minister said these topless dancers, be they real women or transvestites, they be arrested and fined.
“I order soldiers and the police to arrest all these dancers on the trucks.”"

Given that Yamaha has removed these from sale, as it ages will it be supported with spare parts ?
-
he has the red one.
Tyres provide great grip in both wet and dry conditions, also pretty decent out riding the dirt trails.

574k for the Honda.
We put different bars on my managers scrambler (Pro Taper - Pastrana FMX) on a 1 inch rise, also relocated the speedo central over the top of the tank. much more comforatble to ride he tells me.
-
by all reports they are a great bike. I refuse to ride my managers......... cause I don't want to head to ducati and buy one myself.
Next in the stable will be a Honda CB1100 EX for me I reckon.
-
My Manager has the Scrambler, he loves it and has done 2000km since he got it 2 months ago. Not a problem at all being air cooled.
He is 6ft 3" and about 85kgs and he find it plenty powerful enough and very comfortable.

The AC will be powered by the van.
I agree financially they make no sense though given the availability of cheap accommodation.
-
It's simply too hot to sleep in a camper van in Thailand.
I guess that is why they have air conditioning fitted (Pod thingos on the roof).
-
Be interesting the see some "after" pics when all that crap caked onto their faces is removed.
-
He said "Big C", so his idea surely is to avoid the trip to the DLT
I don't know about the one in South Rd Soi 4 but there are several such control centers on Sukhumvit.
I know one between South & Central Rd going North, and another one between Central & North Rd still going North.
Lucky I also mention in my post about anywhere you see this sign then hey........
-
There is an inspection station at the Transport Dept ( I assume you are doing it at Regents).
It is slightly further up the road from the DLT on the left.
Alternatively anywhere you see this sign.
