  2. Yes, It is a real downpour. Hope we don't have flooding. Jack
  3. I booked Mr T to pick up a friend arriving from the U.S. around midnight recently. The flight was delayed over 3 hours. At 3 a.m. the driver called and said "where are you now?" The flight had just landed and he was still waiting. I told him my friend would be there soon and went back to sleep. The next day my friend told me he had missed Mr T somehow. I was never called about the fare so I went by to pay him. He did go and waited 3 hours for no compensation so I thought it only fair to pay him. I gave young Mr. T 1000 baht and explained the situation to him. He said 200 or 300 for the trip wa
  4. Nice family. The first line of the card says "Chan rak Por. I love Father. Then my Thai skills ran out. Thanks for the nice pics. Jack
  5. Thanks for a great post before the "bread was a penny a loaf" and "gasoline was 30 cents a gallon" people took over. The good old days usually weren't good old days. People just tend to remember the good stuff and block out the bad. Ten years from now these will be talked about as the good old days. Except for the people that realize it is now and live it to the fullest. Jack
  6. Pattaya is getting busier by the day. I think the visa restrictions and baht strength eliminated a lot of low end tourists and cheap Charlies but the better condos are booked and the popular bars and a-go-gos are doing well as far as I can tell. Hope high season is busy and the ladies make good money. God knows they deserve it. Jack
  7. I think Gabor world is different than the world Pattaya expats live in. The prices and locations are not usually the same as ours. And I doubt the Hungarian economic engine will change Pattaya based on their spending habits. Jack
  8. I think coffee is like wine in many ways. The taste is affected by the setting. I worked on oil tanker ships and we became coffee fanatics. We had our own blend roasted at Capricorn coffee in San Francisco and it had to be ground just the right number of seconds just before brewing. Since retiring and moving to Pattaya I have a cup of nescafe instant on my patio looking out at the ocean instead of on the ocean looking into shore and it is better than any coffee I ever had on the ship. And for my second cup I go to Starbucks on the beach with an ocean and lady view and it is still damn good.
  9. An absolute thrill and keeps you alert and adrenaline flowing. Not a good idea if you are a drunk or not experienced or both. There is risk involved like everything in life. If you had rather die in a nursing home wallowing in your own shit and piss don't do it. Jack
  10. Yes, The music is perfect. Please don't change it. It is a wonderful change from all the other crap played in Pattaya. Jack
  11. I would like to see a 32 foot flat screen. Must have cost a fortune. Jack
