  1. Sounds like my parents' generation's "Chinese food" -- candy-sweet plum sauce on "dumplings" and loads of MSG.

I like Japanese Chinese food, which isn't the real deal either but it's closer and much tastier.

I'll check it out and make my own determination though.

  2. I wonder if you had the same problem I had a few weeks ago.

My phone had stored the details of the wifi used in the old Bite Me Bistro days. They are using a different wifi now, and you need to ask for password.

I did get the password but I wasn't able to log on for some reason.

  3. Looking forward to trying the menu at the Bite.

Unfortunately when I dropped in the other day the wifi wasn't working, and as I was dining alone I needed something to read. The waitress was slow in bringing a menu and slow in coming to take my order, which I took as a bad sign, so I went across the street to Easy Health (or something like that), where I had the most deliciously spiced pumpin soup I've ever tasted.

I'll give the Bite another try sometime soon.

  4. EP, your food reviews are awesome as always.

I'm glad to see Five Star J fries with coconut oil. In most cooking oils, heating destroys the beneficial fats, but this is not true with coconut oil apparently. (Olive oil is fine for drizzling over salad, etc.)

Five Star J, Spaghetti Bistro, Great American Sandwich Company -- I've got my work cut out for me. Back in town next week, can't wait.

  5.

A little fermented curd will do the trick...

    Red Leicester ?

    Tilsit?

    Caerphilly?

    Stilton?

    Emmental?

Cheddar? Have you got cheddar? It's the most popular cheese in the world.

  6. Dropped in at Dave's Cantina last night with a couple of visiting friends. We all had a great time and the food was delicious and beautifully presented.

My friends had the tortilla soup while I had the chili soup, both pronounced great. At the table there are three kinds of hot sauce, so we mixed and matched, trying them variously on our tacos, burritos, quesadillas and refried beans.

The joint is a bit out of the way so you have to look for it, but with directions we found it easily. Tell your driver it's on Soi Kruptidin, enter from Third Road and keep going till you see it on the left side.

Since Dave's is just up the road from Tigglebitties, you can have a bit of a Tex-Mex pub crawl in the area. Prices are reasonable too, so come on down.
