  1. Singapore is reviewing the Chinese Sinovac vaccine for possible use authorization.

    Quote

Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines involve injecting snippets of the virus’ genetic material into the body to stimulate an immune response.

In contrast, Sinovac's product is a more traditional inactivated vaccine, which makes use of killed virus particles. This method has been used in vaccines for diseases such as polio.

Nope.  We had to drive around the detour sign to get to their parking.  For us, coming West on 36, it's an easy drive.  When they fix the road we'll be able to get to Taco House again and try Outback.

So, can you say what you showed in your photos?  Looks interesting.

I learned to navigate to the Nongprue police station which is just a short distance away.  I particularly appreciate their breakfast menu.  The English speaking peoples seem to be particularly nationalistic when it comes to the first meal of the day.

I'd go to a hopital vs. a clinic unless there is one which does this as a speciality and in Pattaya that is not likely.

I recommend PhyaThai Hospital in Sriracha because they have a great facility and an ex-pat who will arrange everything for you including an interpreter on arrival.

See their website and the expat link, and contact Colin. They offer quite a lot of monthly checkup specials as well which might tie into this exam.

Unless you have had polyps discovered and removed, every 5 years after 50 is more the norm than biennially.

A bump on this as I should be getting one this year.  Relatively certain, GP has a medical background so I will check the Phya Thai website as to who they have on their GI staff.  BHP would be easier as far as transportation is concerned.  My experience in the US was that they didn't knock you out but enough quality drugs that you didn't much care.

You are sure about something that happened to me 22 years ago and my attitude towards being incarcerated in IDC rather than a holding cell .... wow! Have we met?

I am very open about my past and am extremely self critical but I'm confused as to how you are sure about a situation you didn't witness and about a person you have never met.

Not the least bit certain, but some times cops go for what will definitely work even if the real motivation is a bit equivocal.

Yup ..we have had this discussion before and I always say that I spent 3 weeks in Bangkok IDC ...A place that you should avoid ... All I can say beyond what has been said before is make sure that somebody knows where your passport is and has a legal right to enter your accommodation to get it ....

.....but you would have already been in IDC  a week or more...if they find you...  (depending on  what day you were lifted and public holidays in Thailand/Home country and what the visiting day for your embassy/catholic priest is) ... eating one chicken wing, one vegetable, one boiled egg, a handfull of rice every fucking meal every fucking day!

Jacko I have to thank you...my daughter left a few months ago to find work in Bangkok.I need to make sure the lady I lay with knows where my passport is.......Bizarrely it was her that got me out of the shit more than 20 years ago ..( and charges of attempted murder suddenly disappeared - ....... Brian please note!)

How to put it, would a reasonable officer of the law thought you needed to be off the street and the lack of a passport provided convenient cover?  Yes, I'm sure you didn't see it that way.

When I was working still, my company had private big name insurance. I went on vacation to Thailand, got so ill I had to be hospitalized toward the end of my trip in Bangkok. Insurance wouldn't pay directly so I had to front the hospital bill. They sought authorization from my CC company and I was in two nights. Otherwise I would have been at an ATM...

Anyway, when I got home I was reimbursed for all but the $100 hospital co-pay.

Now I have medicare and a private supplemental plan. Medicare would not give a reimbursement certainly but I wonder what Blue Cross and others cover?

Also, perhaps someone can offer an opinion on short term  internationally accepted medical insurance for tourists? There must be some. They can't be exorbitant for such a short period of time...I hope.

My specific flavor of Blue Cross Blue Shield covers me in Thailand.  They will pay directly at Bangkok Hospital and  some other hospitals.  That had been inpatient only but now includes outpatient.  Still believe a high limit credit card is essential out the door kit.

  7. Do my sweating at  Jetts Fitness in the Little Walk complex on Sukhumvit.  While performing penance on the treadmill, looked at the cars parked in front.  In ten parking spaces there were three Mercedes and a Porsche.  One of the Mercedes left and another pulled in.  Not unusual to see more than one high end car there such as these and BMWs.

  8. Retired at 62 so not really early.  Could have retired earlier but there were significant financial benefits to hanging in as long as I did.  The last five years were a bit month to month due to my boss.  Looking back at those five years, the most positive memory was the folks who worked for me.

A few months after I retired I found myself asking whether I had done the right thing.  Then I thought about the commute which hadn't really been that long and almost had a panic attack.

  9. Knew that I was almost certainly going to  have to do a 90 report so went today avoid the panicked multitude at the end of the month.  Got there at 9:50 and was out the door by 10:05.  Not all that many people.  Two thirds of the seats have do not sit signs but no problem finding a seat.

When my number was called, the officer handed my passport back in probably a minute.
