Since I'm not really into back door entrances, I'll guess "Luck be in the air tonight".

Just down the street is the Metro Apartments bar run by a amiable Irishman.

I flew on one from JFK business class and I thought it was terrific for the price. Transferring through Guangzhou was a breeze and the lounge was decent. Even had time for a shower. The only negative I found was some of the FA's English skills were lacking and they had apparently never heard of a Bacardi and coke.

I hate to say it but there's more tomatoes on that garden salad then I get here.

I prefer to go east because it seems to me that total travel times are shorter and arrival times are better. To Dubai you will be able to get nonstop flights, most others probably one stop choices. For Melbourne, maybe 1 or two.

It does have excellent food. They will also deliver to the other bars in the Soi LK Metro area that do not have their own kitchen such as the Metro Apartments. I often order from the Golf Club when I am staying at the Metro.

I haven't stayed there in a while but I remember my room having an Ethernet port by the desk and they supplied the cable.

Does any place in Pattaya know how to do eggs over easy?

The Avenue is a tough place for whatever reason. I ate at that All American last year and knew then that it's days were numbered.

The newer wing is the Evergreen which is behind the original wing and has easy access to the street that runs behind the Avenue shopping center. The second pool you saw is gone and was replaced with a better pool and an exercise room. In my opinion the Evergreen is where you want to stay.

And that gentlemen is how a thread goes somewhat off-track!
Yes, you could say this thread has become a goat rope.

Well thanks for that last post LBJ, but I still have no idea how a "goat rope" has been described in the flight that Ballbag took. Oh well, it definitely isn't an Australian military term (I think I've heard them all). And also, LBJ, in Post 13, doesn't the term SNAFU more suitably fit your definition in that post.
Goat Rope and Clusterfuck as IT added are what you're more likely to hear in the military but yes, basically the same as snafu but not normally found in a dictionary.

Like you, I've never heard the expression, nor do I know what it means even now.
Found this:
US military (specifically Air Force military transport) jargon ca. 1970s-1980s, referring to an operation or undertaking involving an unnecessarily large number of people, most of them contributing nothing or actually impeding progress. Typically used to refer to flightline operations where military brass felt it necessary to make their presence felt and impede the normal duties/operations of the aircrew, offering "advice" or "assistance" that was neither requested nor needed.
"We got gear up and flaps up out of Norton (Air Force Base) on time, no sweat, but Travis was a major goat-rope and a half. We had three times as many Base Ops types and ground-pounders in the cargo compartment as crewmembers, and the only reason they finally got the hell out of the way is that they didn't want to buy a crew delay." -
Goat rope was widely used in the military, I first heard it when I was in the Air Force. Pretty much used to mean things aren't going exactly as planned or hoped.

one of the ugliest line ups I've seen so far this trip,
That about sums it up for me as well but I would omit the first two words in your description. I hope they can find some more attractive talent soon.

90 day reporting
in General Discussion about Pattaya
Posted
Just a quick question for the expats with knowledge of immigration procedures. I got my O retirement visa in late September of this year so my first 90 day report is due in December. I have seen conflicting articles on the web about whether the first report is mandatory to be done in person at the immigration office or can it be done online. Which is correct?
