    @forcebwithu And another thing noticed...

Are you familiar with Soi Suk 36/1, which usefully cuts between Soi Yume and Suk...? Radi Mansion is on there. I was pleasantly surprised when I drove it today..no speed bumps! Great.. not for hotels there of course. Bad news, it is being designated as a detour or bypass for Suk traffic to North Pattaya, since Sukhumvit is going to get messy. The soi needs to be at least twice as wide!

As a yank growing up with nice wide roads I'd say that about all the roads in Thailand.  😅

LOL..... one often feels like knocking on the head and asking if anyone is home.....oh well, look on the bright side, it will deter cyclists and motorcyclists, but poor old mobility scooters!

Look we all know if you are on a mobility scooter in Pattaya you are already fucked.  😅

I am just recovering from a new hip and have gone through 2 new knees over the years.  I'm not even close to needing a mobility scooter but Pattaya can be daunting getting around even for me.

Something good might have come out of the Soi 15 fiasco!

When Soi 15 was inaccessible at both ends, the sub-soi that runs between Soi Buakhao and Soi 15 was being used a lot. (Many of us refer to it as Soi Casino, for what are now only historical reasons!)

Soi Casino is mostly a dirt track with bad potholes, except where it runs from Soi 15 up to between the Whisper and Kokotel hotels, which has been concreted.

I notice today that it has been blocked off where the concrete ends, and it looks like the concreting is being extended.

Curious why it is called Soi Casino.  I've been visiting since 1999 and first I heard this.  I always hated that soi.  Seemed like every time I walked it at least one dog got territorial.  Never attacked but had to keep my eyes open and had to reach down as if picking up a rock a few times.

  4. Thanks for the pictures.  I confess that is as close as I will get.  I visited the Cambodian killing fields and I had some bad dreams from it.  And I think the Nazis might have been worse in just how calculating and organized they were.  It's a good thing we remember and try to avoid repeating such atrocities but I like sleeping at night.

Sorry to say those whole blocks are long overdue for demolition... been there a long long time and more could be made of the locations. Spent a lot of time in Dave's (GB) Bar nearby.

Don't know if they need razing as they are mostly brick.  But they are in sorry state no doubt.  My real bitch is most of these places have traditional "stairs" which I would happily traipse up and down in my youth.  Now with 2 fake knees and a fake hip on order I do not like those steep stairs.

I stayed in the classroom early this year, looked out over the rodeo boys next door to the penthouse. They are both going to need some serious work to get them into shape.lots of rats came out to play at night.Of course the locals fed the dogs that attracted the vermin at night and the birds overday.A few homeless slept there as well.

I also stayed at Classroom Jan-March.  And the dogs out front of Classroom (like them but dayum shut the fuck up at night) would kill rats and leave them around on the road.

I would hate to work in Penthouse.  Betting there are vagrants sleeping there and wildlife galore.

I heard it had been bought by an Indian who wants to restore it to it's former 'glory'.😁

I heard the same thing.  Boy does he have a lot of work to do.  That place has stood empty for a long time and I suspect there are a lot of critters living in there and they will need to rip out anything made of cloth and repaint.  Probably need lot of plu, bing work too.

So has the dreaded weed  been at last removed from the naughty list in Pattaya ?.

I am currently back in the USA.  I spent Jan-March in Pattaya and at that time buying weed was the same as buying a bottle of beer in the stores.  No issues.  BUT in theory and it seems practice it isn't legal to smoke it in a bar or public.  I never saw people smoking it in public.

  9. I'm confused.  isn't it illegal to allow smoking in public places there?  I mean I know it isn't enforced but realistically it shouldn't be hard to find non-smoking venues.

For myself been so long since I went out at night other than dining and meeting the lads at some open air bar I forget what it is like in crowded gogos and the like.

For myself I gave up cigarettes about 28 years ago.  I am pretty sure my lings are pink and free of gunk.  I noticed when I tried marijuana here (legal in my state) I coughed like a MFer.  Betting back in my ciggy days I wouldn't have.  I find gummies are better anyway.  😄

  10. I know tourists think the flooding is clean water since it came from rain.  Au contraire.  The water that floods Pattaya is not clean at all.  it mixes with the shit in the sewers.  I remember one time I had to walk/wade home from LK Metro to Soi 13 and Second road.  And OK I'd had a few.

I walked to the end of LK Metro and the water was rushing.  And about knee high.  Despite being inebriated I realized I could easily be knocked off my feet by that and get pinned under a car and die.  OK, yes I am a pussy.  So I waded around back up LK Metro to Buakhao and over to Soi 15 and down safely.  But that isn't the worst of it.

I had on new shoes that I really liked.  Yeah yeah I know.  Weird for a guy but I wasn't going to ruin them.  So I was waking BAREFOOT.  Yikes.  All I could think was please God don't let me cut my feet.  Long story short I made it home with only one incident where I stepped on something that felt furry (do not want to know).  Instantly in the shower scrubbing my feet and legs.

Woke up to a low grade fever just from walking in that shit water.  Or a hangover but I don't normally have those so I'm assigning blame on the water.  🤮

Almost 150 years ago, President Lincoln found it necessary to hire a private investigator, Mr. Alan Pinkerton. He was actually the beginning of the Secret Service. Since that time, federal police authority has grown to a large number of agencies...FBI, CIA, INS, IRS, DEA, BATF, AFT, etc. Now, Congress is considering a proposal for another agency: the “Federal Air Transportation Airport Security Service”....can’t you see it now? The new agents in their black uniforms with the initials in large white letters across their backs???

I am almost the appropriate physique for that job.  ?

Have you noticed the MGs are back?  I guess some Chinese company bought the name.  I’ve seen a few reviews of them and I’ve seen them around Pattaya. Some people say they’re not bad.

I never had much luck with British sports cars. The were always breaking down for one reason or another. My very first car was a Sunbeam Alpine. That car was broken more often than not. I’ve also had two MGBs, an Austin Healy Bugeye Sprite, and a Triumph Spitfire. Mostly all too much trouble. I finally started buying Japanese sports cars. Those usually work.

Have seen a lot of them.  The price is extremely good.  And they look OK.  I have no idea if they are reliable or will hold up.  I did ride in the back of one of the pickups and it wasn't very comfortable but heck, beggars can't be choosers.

  13. So yesterday I got a new job.  I was so excited and then I got fired on the first day.  What a bummer.

I was a massuer.  I don't understand why I was fired.  They told me to finish on her face.

Mostly my thigh muscle will start to ache. Then I lay off the statin for a week or so and switch to another statin. You might want to google 'statin leg pain' and see what knowledgeable people have written. I know it's happened to me usually after about two years on any one statin. So I change to another statin for a couple years.

Of course, talk to your doctor. First time my thigh started hurting I did seek out my doctors advice; change your statin he said. OK, there are a few to choose from these days.

Thanks.  I don't think this is my issue.  I play a lot of golf and it puts a strain on the soft tissue of my left hip which went away for a while when I was doing therapy.  And the knees are fucked so......   But it's always good to have more information than less.
