  1. Is it just me or is their repair service always this bad.... My line went down when my ADSL was supposed to come on line. this was six weeks ago. I call them every day. and every day they say some one will come out,,,,they never show,,,they never call.....I have no idea what to do. I wonder if anyone else has had the same problem with TOTs repair service.

Is TT and T any differen't.

Am i expecting too much of these Thais.  :chogdee2

I can not speak for TOT But TTT is and has been great I have in 10 months had only 1 problem a call to the call center and a tech was at my door in 2 hours and took care of the problem. I have the Maxnet4home package 512/256 790 baht a month. the Speed is constant as a matter of fact here is the latest speed test. Can't beat it with a stick

I have referred 2 other board members and one was paying 2700 Baht a month for J-Net goes with out saying he was a happy camper.

  2. I have a savings account with them with ATM card which works well for me. Large amounts over 20,000 can be withdrawn using a simple form within the bank. I use the ATM minimum withdrawal of 20,000 daily as I feel it gives me good protection should it be lost or stolen. It can't be used for purchases either only cash from ATM's. It can also be used to obtain cash all the other bank ATM's up to it's limit too!

Same Same with Bangkok Bank but it has a 150,000 Baht limit per day and I have no hassle of going in to the Bank for 20,000 baht as the ATM will give 25,000 per withdrawl.

If it is lost same same as well can not be used for anything other that Cash from the ATM machines.

  3. Thanks much for the info billrussell.

Are you refering to the Eastiny Inn? This hotel is on Soi 8, and it is suggested to not barfine from Soi 8 bars due to having to walk past each day to and from hotel. So this kind of put this place in the "not so good" list of places to stay, due to the fact that I'll spend a lot of time with the ladies on Soi 8.

But it sounds like you're refering to a diferent place.

I also heard that the Eastiny Inn has a sister hotel. Is this the one you are refering to? Funny thing is, all the reviews I read talk about Eastiny Inn the 7th floor is the place everyone suggests. Probably just a coincidence.

To answer your question, I need a connection either wired or wireless for my laptop in order to do some work while in LOS.

So how do I get in touch with the Eastony Residence hotel? Website? Phone?

    Thanks again.

    SB

The Eastiny Residence hotel is indeed on Soi 10 And the Eastiny Inn is on Soi 8 same company.

  6. "I think Japan Airlines is the Worst "

I concur. It's been years admittedly, but lousy food, noisy and disorganized crew the few times I've flown with them.

I've got my first two trips of the year covered out of LAX on Cathay Pacific for $909 all up each in April and the end of May.

THAT'S a better deal than any of the above IMO.......

    ~Sa-teef

I agree I have flown 6/7 different airlines to LOS from the west coast US and JAL is the only one I would not use again.

Cathay for 909.00 ? you is a Wheeling Dealing fool Sir Steve

  7. I really enjoy these threads regarding Retirement as there are those say you can not do it for less than 80,000 baht a month. Then you have those that are doing just that and could not be happer. No two people are alike.

  8. My mate retired same time as me, he was never very good at keeping in the black with the bank while working. Now 3 years later, his lack of planning, has found him rather skint.

When he recieved his retirement forecast 3 years ago, he worked out that he could live in LOS on his pension. Unfortunately, he didn't allow for inflation, currency fluctuation and bank charges.

His pension, is paid into his Barclays account in the U.K. He makes withdrawals at the ATM near his home in Pattya. All corespondance from his bank goes to his old address in England, where his kids live and he can't check his balance at ATM in LOS. Had a call last month from daughter, that he was iverdrawn by a months pension,

He had not allowed for the £4.00 + £1.50 charge every ATM transaction. he also pays the local tax on his house in U.K and did not allow for annual increase. The bank charged him god knows how much for the unauthorised o/draft.

Now to cap it all, the Baht has gone from 72 to 65 to the GBP, a pay cut of 10/%.

Any U.K lads thinking of following suit, get out of Barclays and into Nationwide. I have received statements from both. Barclays charge commision as stated above, and an exchange rate of 66bht- GBP. Nationwide, no commision and 68bht- GBP. A saving of about £6 per transaction, thats a few bob over a year.

    BANKS I 'ATE 'EM

How much was his pension ? was he out on the piss every night ? Maybe he was not living within his means to begin with ??
