Not requesting, just suggesting.Of the GC's I know Club Fate and M Club are non-smoking.
[mention=5439]teelack[/mention], since we've already started to list the non-smoking places in this topic, suggest asking the mods to change the topic title to something along the lines of Non-Smoking Bars and Clubs.

I am in Pattaya as I write this. Great trip for me but it must be hell for most bars and clubs as there a few spending customers.
There is however one are that is causing me some distress and that is the mixture of cigarettes, ganja, cigars and vaping smells. Thankfully no pipe smokers.
This will only get much worse as tourism picks up. It is for this reason that I believe that we need a new forum called possibly "Non Smoking Venues".
I have been very happy to support Heaven Above, Sugar Sugar, Windmill and Windmill Annabelle which are non smoking on the ground floors.
Many gogo bars have few customers and possibly decent air con systems so it's not a problem yet.
One other place to support is Cheap Charlie's. This is open fronted but again non smoking inside. Nothing will piss me off more is someone sitting beside, seeing me eat a meal and start smoking. As we all know, common sense isn't that common.
Needless to say it's up to the bar /club owners but perhaps a bit of pressure from the majority (non smokers) might pressure the minority (smokers) to have a bit more consideration.
Let the red dislikes commence!

Can I suggest the following. The scams that I am aware of happen when you get there. The drivers attempt to steer you in a direction that you dont want to go.
For this reason and to answer your question the simple answer is to Google a half dozen local taxi firms, compare the pricing and order ahead. Its not totally foolproof as this wont stop the driver asking you to change your accommodation to a "Much better hotel". Just dont let a taxi driver piss you about and all will be well.
PS. I would give the same advice to anyone going to Bangkok or any other place.

Just a few steps away is the also new Labua. Could be worth a look. Met some guys in December staying there. They were quite impressed and the daily rate was very good. May have changed now.I'm tempted to give it a try on my next trip!!!

Thanks for the comments. Looking at some options for forthcoming travel there are a lot of options where there is a 10/12 hour lay over in KL. In the past I have found that eating and drinking there on stopover is an expensive proposition and I might have been better to have got some sleep in a capsule for a few hours.

There is still a shortage of decent air options for Thailand from my neck of the woods. Rather than stay overnight in Auckland I thought that a good option could be Kuala Lumpur Airport.
I have had a look at some of the options but wonder if anyone out there has experience of staying at the airport. I have no desire to go into KL and only look for a place within walkable distance of the airport. I dont expect more than a ten hour stopover.
I assume that people on layover like this staaying within the airport can do so without a formal visa but again, any advice appreciated.

I am an avid wine drinker at home but cannot see the value in Thailand. I do go and check out Australian and New Zealand wines when I am there. As a general rule the retail price is three times what I would pay at home. That Vella sounds like a real bargain.

My phone crashed on my way to Thailand and I guess that it makes sense that some of the reinstalled apps don't work as before.As your tag line indicates you're using Tapatalk, it's a reasonable assumption that is the app you're using to view this forum. On Pattaya Addicts the mods/admin have stated updates to the forum software, which is the same used on PT (Invision), have caused issues with Tapatalk. You'll need to report the issue to Tapatalk as the problem is with their app.

As a computer illiterate I appreciate your reply. I don't think you actually read my questions or comments.You are reading the forum on some kind of software. If it is with a browser on a PC or an Android phone the most popular browser is Google Chrome.

Like about 70 percent of the planet I have Android and as default, Chrome, Google and all its apps that come with the average mobile.
It's so simple really. What was click and click again has disappeared from my phone. Its obvious that no one has given thought to my question which was part of Pattayatalk that worked before but doesn't work now. Bugger all to do with Chrome.

Thanks for trying. I guess that I am a tech illiterate.Just saying that downloading the pictures here works for me using Chrome browser. Will add that I doubt I have any permissions here than you do not, so most likely not a forum issue. Apologies if you were being Google Photo's specific, you didn't say that in that post
In the past it was a simple case of click the cartoon, press the down arrow which appeared below and there it was, downloaded immediately into Photos. Google Chrome simply did not feature hence my comment and I just have no idea how the Chrome and downloading the cartoon is linked.

I just wish that I understood what you mean.I use Chrome and right click then "save as" is working fine.
I would simply click the cartoon and save and it ended up in Google Photos. Now it just won't save. I have no idea how Chrome comes into the picture. Perhaps you can enlighten me please.

Just wanted to give a plug for Canterbury Tales
OK I admit that I had trouble with Google Maps as I seem to get multiple destinations. I took the radical method of asking someone who had been there. It worked.
The new layout is great, easy to use and it is very well stocked as you would expect.
I picked up a newly published book (2022) and for 180 baht with a 50%return discount was a bargain.

Just a techo question. Over the years I have downloaded quite a few of the excellent cartoons. Has this privilege been withdrawn or is it something to do with my account? The download arrow appears but that's as far as it gets.

The expiry date of the visa is the day after you fly out according to your flight ticket.Flight in or out?
Did that also happen to be 60 days after the application/validity or do they adjust it to be that way mate? Of course it has nothing to do with how long you can stay, as I believe you could arrive a few days before the Visa expires. and would get stamped in for 60 days.
The last visa I applied for was requested about 8 weeks before the flight. The reasons for this is that you sometime need a bit of extra time up your sleeve.
If your passport got lost in the post ! Disaster!
If you have to source extra material (I had to get some scanned docs from Thailand), and so forth.
I dearly hope that the 45 visa exemption is still going when I next want to visit. The cost, time and trouble of the 60 day visa isn't worth the hassle.

Not quite on topic but I would add. The package you buy has to be related to the amount of free Internet in your accommodation..I took on board the suggestion of a boardie to key in the long code from AIS. In a month I did the heavy work from the free WIFI and used my data plan when out and about.
Result. I only used 80% of the package that cost me 275 baht for a month.
A little bit of planning has saved me some baht.

Just to add to the topic. I have twice this year obtained a 60 day visa. As part of the application I have to supply a copy of my airline ticket. In both cases, despite the application date the visa expired the day after my flight.

Thanks Phil. Little bits of good news are keeping people like myself alive and well. What's happening on the ground is always appreciated but it's a bit sad that Pete isn't keeping us updated himself. I am sure he has the time! Many of us have been going there since day one.I talked to Pete this week and fans of the beer garden can be reassured that it isn’t closing permanently whatsoever , just waiting for things to pick up.
