  1. In the past we have always just got the 30 day visa on arrival. This year we booked our flights to stay for 60 days so I checked out the electronic visa website. It states

"The validity of a visa is 3 months or 6 months."

I am a bit confused, does the three months start from the beginning of our trip(we are staying 60 days} or does it expire 3 months after issue which could be a problem if I applied too early. I would like to apply for it at least 4-6 weeks before we leave to be on the safe side in case there are any problems with our application. Any insight would be appreciated.

  2. I also would like to comment on Nam's service. We have used her for the last 2 or 3 trips both picking up at the airport and returning to the airport. All the drivers have been good, very prompt, the communication excellent and the price fair. I would certainly recommend her service.

Yes, if you do not have a bank account in Thailand you could get by without. But how about getting on-line with your phone. Data requires a network number, even Wi-Fi available in Malls often originates from the networks provided free to their customers. Free Wi-Fi is usually crap. There will be a lot of freeloaders on a free WI-Fi, or even managing to get onto a business network. If one Thai knows the password, all her friends will too. As I learned on Soi Chaiyapoon recently. All the girls were on the restaurant opposite's Wi-Fi!

No Google Fi is regular phone service with data. The data is billed to us @ $10 per GB, same as at home in USA.. Our phone calls to home are billed @ .20 per minute and texts are N/C . We also use the condo wi fi when we are there so that data is not charged only the data from the phone company. I do not know which Thai phone company Google Fi partners with but I seldem have any problems.

In the past, I've used 1-2 Call with no problem.  It pays to look into the different plans, though, as they have more than a few and the features differ.  For example, some plans may require topping up more frequently.

Another thing I've been looking into is Google Fi.  I'm in the USA, and I can get Google Fi and keep my USA number for $39 a month for phone service and data.  Supposedly, the phone will work in 165 countries and there's no need to change sim cards every time you change countries.  Somehow, the phone knows where you are and makes the necessary adjustments, automatically.  Anyway, I have an extra phone around that I can use with the Google Fi.  I'll use another phone for the Thai sim card, so I guess I'll have two phones and two phone numbers.  Probably won't use the Thai phone too much.

My wife and I have had Google Fi for about 3 years. It has been great for staying in touch with USA. Texting is included, calls are inexpensive and data is same price as home. For Thai contacts we use Line , What's App or Facebook messenger.

  5. I have a PC and laptop and both have MS 10 as their platform. I am quite happy with this as it is such a leap ahead of MS 8. Having said that I just hate MS Mail. I have no idea how something that has been so good for so long got butchered. Anyway, I was also having issues with it and got in touch with my ISP. After some messing about they told me that they were having problems with the programme and were suggesting that clients "'upgraded" to Mozilla Thunderbird. They handled all of this using a PC control programme and I have to advise you that this is great. I now have it installed in both of my computers and it is a breath of fresh air to me. If you have a crap mail programme can I suggest that you look at Thunderbird, It has made my computing experience that much better,

Jim I have been using Thunderbird for a number of years now and have always been happy with it.

Wife and I went last night and had the pizza. We both thought it was pretty good but with a slightly unusual flavor. Our service girl was excellent. We also had a similar experience to Keyman as there was a table of 6 with ONE guy extremely loud, the others not so much. All in all we will be back for pizza in the future. Thanks for your review

  7. I've flown Air China twice. Below average food, non english speaking staff for the most part.Fucking chinese endless yakking and walking the aisles. The odd wailing kid.No inflight entertainment from memory.

Pretty much like any low cost airline I guess. @ 1200 in savings I would say the price is fair for what your getting.

Only thing is some flights go via Bejing or was it guangzao? Check layovers before booking.

Inbound layover via Bejing is 1:15 and 2:30 return home. Thanks for the input guys I have booked it

  8. In their heyday, they had the best Filipino band in the city. 4 Male musicians, and a female lead singer who was HOT. She went to work in Tokyo, leaving the guys stuck with a repertoire of classic rock.

On occasion, they did have various female singers, but they weren't that good. Over the last year, the band started fragmenting, with some of the members going elsewhere. I stopped going in there, because it lost that atmosphere they had a few years ago.

When it was good, it was very good.

As to the Soi 4/5 flattened comment, see Mirkwood's picture. The bars between Soi 5 and Soi 4 were demolished, including U-TOO Bar and many others in that complex.

Not only was she very hot she had a great personality
