  3. I recently spent three nights at LK: The Empress. I generally like the LK Group. I lived in the LK Metropole for a large chunk of 2006. I've had good stays at the LK Renaissance and great ones at LK Royal Suites. While it's a nicer hotel and would work well for many people, I don't think I'll be staying at LK The Empress again. One of the reasons I like staying at LK hotels is that they have soft beds, which is unusual for a Thai hotel. While the beds at the Empress are softer than most you'll find in town, the ones in the Royal Suites, Metropole, and Renaissance were softer and better. Other oddities include three separate entranced. The main (middle) building has two elevators in the lobby. The front buildings requires you to cut through the kitchen to get to the elevators. The back building gives you the choice of cutting through the lobby or the adjoining Family Mart. I paid $62/night on Agoda (need the points) for a studio king room. Most importatly, the hotel is guest friendly. + Convenient location for most + Nice pool and gym with sauna and steam room + Good service - Bed not as soft as the ones found in other LK properties - Poor outlet placement - Typical Thai construction shortcuts - Three entrances for the buildings with varying quality Here are some photos. If you have any questions about LK: The Empress, I'll try my best to answer them.
  4. I spent three nights at Seven Zea Chic Hotel on Soi 5, closer to Beach Road. The rate was $47 on Agoda and the pictures looked nice. While the building is new and the pool is fantastic, I wouldn't stay here again. The bed was a step above a marble slab. Ouchie. + Lovely pool with a beach view + Guest friendly + Can stumble to Soi 6 + Super friendly staff - Too far north for me - Bed is a frickin' rock - Internet system only allows one device per guest account, which is a problem for nerds that bring laptops, tablets, and smartphones (yes, that includes me) The room is pretty basic, but the price wasn't bad on Agoda. I just can't deal with that bad for more than a couple of nights. I'd gladly spend a little more money for a better bed. Here are some photos. If you have any questions about the hotel, I'll try to answer them.
  5. HI guys. I am going to pattaya at the end of Jan. I am wondering if anyone can reccommend a good hotel guesthouse near the Soi 6 i think it is. (where the action is). Should i book ahead or just wing it when i get there? I dont mind being a few minutes walk away from the happenign Soi's. Am i right in assuming all the action is in soi 6. Or is it spread aroudn a bit? Im looking at something under 1000 baht, guest friendly without a charge, with wifi, friendly atmoshphere, quiet at night, safe, a pool would be good? Any advice at all? Also, these hotels like metro and billabong that have chicks working in them. Are you allowed to bring chicks from outside the business or do they pressure you to use their chicks? Also what should i be expecting to pay for a full night? ( a girl i mean) any advice at all on any of the above or other subjects would be greatly appreciated.
