  1. JMSDF Kure Museum is located at, you guessed it, Kure, which is just a short train ride up the coast from the city of Hiroshima. The museum is dedicated to the art of Mine sweeping, and especially the part that the Japanese Navy has played since the end of WW2. Also, they have a fantastic section dedicated to Submarine's, and they have a real life, bloody huge submarine in the grounds that you can visit and walk around. The museum is run by the JMSDF(Japanese Maritime Self defence Force), and is free, no charge whatsoever to visit, but they do take donations. They have a coffee
  2. For anyone that has an interest in all things Naval or military, then you would love this little costal town in the south of Japan. Kure is located just up the coast from Hiroshima, roughly a 30 min train ride up the coast. Kure, was the home port and constructing site of the "biggest" battleship ever constructed for use during WW2, although it did lead a very sheltered life during the war and hardly ever saw any combat at all, until its death and destruction at the end of the war. This is the wharf where the Yamato was constructed....................
