New to the boards, but after a few minutes of scanning the threads, it looks like most of you don't get much time to try the tailors. I understand completely. I just returned from working in the Pattaya area for the entire month of January. Got to Pattaya a few times, and I wasn't interested in doing any business with the tailors either.

Anyway, I'm already planning on going back. I just can't not go back.

This next time I might look into at least buying a few tailor made shirts - maybe a suit, but I live in Hawaii so never really need a suit.

Anyway, any tips, suggestions, recommendation, experiences to share on doing business with the tailors?

I wouldn't bother. They sell you shit you don't want but you buy it as it is cheaper than where you live. They sell you too much and a lot of it is of dubious quality and often the designs are well out of date.

Just remember, you didn't come on holiday to Pattaya to buy suits !

Quality is variable and you get what you pay for. If you take the 42 suits and 100 shirts for US$50 or whatever deals then you get what your asking for.

Never ever let them measure you up. Despite the fact that most of their customers are falangs they never seem to get the fact that we have chests thighs and arses.

For suits and shirts take your favourites from home and say copy this EXACTLY.

Mr. T is being a little negative. I get work suits and shirts. About £50 for a good suit (£200 in UK) and £3 for a good shirt (£20 in UK).

I use the tailors next to Jomtiem Boathouse. Forgotten what they are called but go to Jomtiem Boathouse stand with your back to the hotel, turn right and its the first tailors you come to.

Also alterations repairs reseating trousers etc cost practically nothing in Thailand and you can't even find an alteration tailor in UK.

Finally if anyone knows a real cobbler in Pattaya who can resole UK hand made shoes let me know!

There is a Tailor in BKK that I have used and they do the best work I have seen anywhere. The owner is English. The suits are about$175-$200 AND THE QUALITY IS SUPURB! I have the name and address at home. Email me if you want to know(to remind me)

Had a suit made in BKK and it was good quality and well fitted. Had 3 summer trousers and a sports jacket made by Marco in Pattaya. Was terrible!

The trousers looked very old-fashion and baggy, and the sports jacket looked like a normal old-fashion jacket AND they tried to convince me to make trousers to go with it! <laugh
