This is a pretty well covered route. The obvious being Cathay and Thai, also Singapore. Bangkok is a stop off for many European and Middle East (Gulf)carriers on the way to/from Hong Kong

Try flying out of Macau, Air Asia. Macau is only a 1 hour ferry ride away and only costs about $20

 

Here's an example, but you can find even lower...

try ethiopian airlines? i flew with them for £110 return from HKG to BKK. decent plane with above average meal. some nice stewardesses btw

Air Asia flies BKK to Macau, I paid about 80 GBP last time for a return ticket. Book well ahead if you want a good price.

 

They have an arrangement where to get off the ferry and straight onto the plane, no need to go thru Macau immigration.

I am using Dragon air in September to fly from BKK to Hong Kong 5000 Bhat

I flew Gulf air and although most of the other passengers looked a little too much like bin ladin it only cost about $200us return! bargain!

I just looked over my post above and noticed I made a fatal error !

 

I converted to Malaysian Ringit instead of Macau Pataca, the cost of that flight should actually be $135US return and all in.

 

Now that is a bargain !

have used china airlines, very good and cheap, but the sheer flexibility of thai air and cathay choice of flight times is the way to go if you can afford it...you can book online and reserve your seat from the seating plan from these two.
