The 'Sanctuary of Truth'.....

This place,'The Sanctuary of Truth' is cranky. It shouldn't be there.

In my travels around Thailand I've seen all kinds of Temples and Shrines etc. but nothing like this. It's a 110 meters tall and made entirely of wood. BY HAND! Just about every British Tourist knows of the bridge on the river Kwai, but there is no comparison to this monstrosity. And most surprising of all, it was right on my 'doorstep,' in Pattaya, on Soi 12 off the Naklua Road.

This little movie is the longest I've ever posted at around nine minutes, so it may take a little while to load, but it's well worth the wait. For best effect, let it load completely, then play it. I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed being there.

Thanks,

Barrie.

I thought I would add a few pictures also.

It is a very beautiful and quiet place. It is worth a few hours of your time.

We baht bussed it up naklua and walked. It is a long but not arduous walk, if you like walking. The speedboat is the way to go.

Went to the Sanctuary of Truth a couple of years ago - an absolutely temple. Also had a good time horseback riding, watching a dolphin show, and just hanging out. Me and the teerak du jour had a nice time for about 25 USD for about a 3/4 day trp, including lunch and transportation. Well worth a visit.

Interesting.

One day I will return to Pattaya.

And see the Buddha in the hill and the Sanctuary of Truth.

Jantrevor... The Buddha on the Hill...... It's very impresive.

Big Budha is worth going up to. Walk across to the shrine on the other hill. The view of Pattaya is spectacular.

It was an ugly day but you get the idea.

You mean the place is finished? I went about 3 years ago and it was a 'work in progress' and they still wanted 1000 baht for me and her to go in. I declined.

My exact same experience, except foolishly I paid knowing no better at that time! As far as I'm aware it's STILL an ongoing project with no end in site,or price reduction as long as the stupid asian tour groups are herded there!

IMHO 200 bht for farang and 20 bht for local would be more than enough to pay to view a giant crumbling jigsaw puzzle!

If I recall correctly they have like 21 more years to go.
Well I probably haven't so I won't bother. :hijack

I had an update from my neighbour who went a few months back with his 'extended' family. When he found out how much they wanted to take this herd in, he also did an about turn.

What is the best way to get transport there....and more importantly back to the hotel? What is entry fee and are there places to eat there, etc? Thanks!

took a boat from there back to the pier in Pats so expect it goes both ways.
