Very cool place, have stayed a couple of times and always eat there. Not girl friendly at all, your walk of shame will suck. Lots of families and tourists

The place has a nice pool, other than that it's like McDonalds or any other franchise. Same exact menu, and worse, same exact prices as everywhere else.

You feel the need to spend fifty US dollars on a couple of veggie burgers and beers, go for it.

The band in the cafe was way too loud and the couldn't hold a candle to the FLB group.

And if that's not enough, my g/f works for the one of the Hard Rock hotel/casino properties in Florida and she even thought it sucked. I couldn't even talk her into a tshirt to show her friends back home. She was like: "lets get the fuck out of here".

The hotel rooms also suck. Think Motel 6 with some sort of Rock & Roll poster on the wall.

But at Motel 6,you can park your motorcycle in your room if on the bottom floor! <grin

I took a girl there form bangkok 5 years ago, i thought the hotel was quality. The bar was great too with the hammocks & stuff. I think you get what you pay for although i did think it was a little expensive

When an old bugger like me remembers it as The Merlin, it is hard to take the place seriously.

There are plenty of cheaper good options that don't carry branding around town.

If you thought it expensive you obviously felt you got less than you paid for.

What you mostly paid for was the newer name.
