Real Time Room Rate Negotiations

Recommended Posts

Guys,

I am coming to Patts on May 28 Th, I already have room reservations, in light of the current crisis, which has subsided and seems now in control, can I or should I re- negotiate a better rate or change to another hotel and get a better rate, since hotel occupancy is down ? Has anyone else gotten a better rate since the civil disturbance caused all the problems ? If so what advice can you offer in this regard.

Thanks

IMHO...I would first try it on with an email...if you show up and try to get a better rate after confirming the original reservation...you might be looked on in a different light by the hotel staff...and that might harsh the mellow of your hotel stay.

Most hotels in Pattaya don't cost that much in the first place. What would you save, possibly? A few baht? On the other hand, if you're staying at an expensive place, it might be worth your while to look around for a good rate.

Fulfill your obligation. If you wanted a better rate you should have negotiated up front. How would you feel if they tried to up the agreed upon rate once you showed up ?

It is up to you, but you lose all rights to complain when the beer is warm, when the girl is a starfish, when things don't go your way.

You made a deal, you should keep the deal.

Agreed. Try and negotiate an upgrade/free breakfast or whatever otherwise it's like a girl trying to renegotiate her rate when she's got your cock in her gob - because the circumstances have changed.

Everyone is struggling at the minute, i live in Pattaya and currently in Phuket im paying 400 a night here next to all the action nice room free wi-fi no extra charge for ladies etc!

It's the same in Patts you can get a nice room now for the same 400 baht on soi LK metro where there is a lot of action! Everybody will drop there prices just to fill the rooms. it's good business sense, they get you in the room cheap you might have something to eat and a beer before you hit the town! that way they recoupe some of there loses!

I know that's what i would be doing if i stillm owned my guesthouse, luckily i sold 2 weeks prior to red shirts hitting bangkok!

There really has never been a better time to travel to Thailand it's low season and with what's happened everybody is desperate! Hardly any farang here in Phuket it's all Russian, Korean, China and Japan!

Hope you get what your looking for ask yourself how many hours a day are you going to spend in hotel? Do you need a pool? there's a pool on soi LK metro you can use for 100baht!

Most hotels charge for extra guest!

Good look and don't be afraid to bargain this is THailand it's expected!

Thai business sense is that they'll charge you more to make up for the loss. Dont ask me why ; its just done that way.

Maybe eventually so much of the tourist business will fail that they change their ways.
