I also miss Gary and the gang at the Alamo Bar. He was a great guy, used to rent his condo. :whistling:

Polo had the best looking GoGo girls on Walking Street 6-7 years ago. Took a few to Bangkok and Koh Chang for holiday. Steadily declined in quality over the years and eventually replaced with farang women.

It wasn't a heart attack that Dave passed away with. Did not know that Linda had re-married.

Well what I was told simply came from the Thai man who sold hats in front of Dave (GB)s Pattayaland 1 bar. He spoke fair English so I feel surprised that it was all incorrect. Edited by jacko

I wonder which bar is the oldest in town and which bar has had the same owner for the longest length of time? anybody know? :kissing

The original "strip" of bars in the late 60s/early 70s were down the western end of the Nakluah road, near to that tree in the middle of the road: With the US R&R campus towards the eastern end near to what is now Pattaya North Road. I keep meaning to take a trip down there to see if I can recognise any of the old bars if they are still standing, but never seem to have the time ! :thumbup However it is generally accepted that the first bar as such was a "stand-alone" beach bar called Barbo's run by a Greek expat and was in the vicinity of where Walking Street now starts.

At a guess the Bamboo bar is probably one of the oldest going still under the same name. Fairly sure that the previous poster is right with the agogo TQ1, as most of the others that sprang up at a similar time such as the Fire House and others around the Soi Diamond area have changed hands/names or have been chopped up into little bits!

I think the Nautical Inn (vicinity of Soi 11) was the first proper hotel to be constructed, but Nipa and Nova lodges were going up at a similar time.

You know Sailor Bar on soi 8?

That used to be 2 different bars in there. Can anyone remember the other one's name? The 2 Thai female owners disliked each other and would turn up the music volume to trump the other. I'm talking maybe 95-98 - ish. The other used to have girls dancing on the bartop. That was unusual at the time. First time I ever saw that. Then Sailor took over the space.

"Hollywood" possibly ? They were a pain in the arse there ! :clap2 and it's move was well appreciated by many. :chogdee

Lee 1 bar coast road near soi 9 , pulled down to make way for Central Festival. :whistling:

I think Lee 1 Bar re-opened on Soi 8.

I barfined one girl from there during Christmas a longtime ago. She came up to me and said, "Barfine?" Which I really do not like as I had not said 2 words to her. So I made her talk to me for about 2-3 hours and then barfined her. To this day, we are still friends and laugh about that night.

Just thought of another ..... not exactly gone but different since some renovation to the place

Mr Krit in front of Big C BEFORE the construction made the bar moved farther inwards. It used to be a must-stop every songkran coz that corner just seem to attract a lot of traffic.

Not sure but I think "hollywood" was bang opposite the entrance to the flipper, and adjacent to Sailor Bar, so don't think Sailor took it over...

Poteen Still on Soi 8 I think was owned by Danny, the irish electrician and his lovely wife. I remember his new born daughter as well, and I think he left pattaya shortly after the "Britiannia Bar" a couple of doors up (now jungle bar) which was run by Mickey from Leeds and his mate Skinny, was sold.

The halcyon days of Pattayaland 2, when you could easy spend a whole evening there. The Winchester in Jomten when Bill ran it (surprised no one has mentioned it yet). Last I heard Bill was in Angeles, either that or working as a stunt double for "Frank Cannon".

Emergency Room (those "blood transfusions" were great).

Pleasuredome (is it still open?).

Dave's GB bar on second Rd and Jacky Bar next door. Paradise bar at the lower end of 8 with the great pool table and naughty girls.

That GoGo / club on Pratumnak hill with the water show, can't recall the name (freeway?) but had a good few nights in there when staying at the RG when it was first built.

Lastly, the G Spot next to the weekender before the fall out between guys who were supposed to be friends.highlights include Jacko showing porno's on the big screen, filthy dancing competitions, strong drinks free poured, and a good venue all round.

Cheers

Saloon Bar. Fabulous bar, with bucking bull, Lam Morrison and more.

I wonder whatever happened to that place.

.

Joe,

I drove past there the other day. Dangs hot dog stand in still outside & looks like it serves some sort of fast food be it western or Thai. The guest house above, Tamarind if I recall the name has had a coat of piant. I didnt get a look at what is in the Saloon Bar building proper. Am with you was a great bar when Gerry Hotdog then Ron where running it.
