Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

In the US for sure, and I believe in the UK they can't do walk-in business for ordinary accounts. Even if you have an account in Thailand, they won't talk to you. It's for Big Business.

Has anyone opened account with Bangkok bank in US or UK? Can you use the ATM in Thailand without being charged a withdrawal fee?

The branch in New York City is a wholesale bank, so you can't do ordinary retail transactions there. However, if you have an account with Bangkok Bank, you arrange at the New York branch for direct deposits to be made to a special Direct Deposit Account. The money in that account can then be transferred to an ordinary Bangkok Bank account, from which you can withdraw money in Thailand using an ATM card.

Bangkok Bank's Web site says: "If you are a Bangkok Bank customer residing in the US you can submit your application form and supporting documents to Bangkok Bank's New York branch: 29 Broadway, 20th Fl, New York, New York 10006 United States, Tel: (1-212) 422-8200." Link

The best way to get information would be to call that number in New York.

You can open an account in the USA for the purpose of direct deposit of a government pension or the like, which they will then transmit to your Thai account at the Bangkok Bank. Once your money is in Thailand, I suppose you can draw it out of a Bangkok Bank ATM without charge.
