Best bike in 125-150cc category

The front and rear brakes DO come on together. That may be OK for good clean paved roads but NOT OK for sand and gravel covered concrete roads here in Thailand.

Bullshit, the combi brake on my Click is awesome.

If it's all the same to you, I want to control the front brake all by myself and the two brake levers work just fine for me.

If its all the same to you only one operates the Combi, the other is dedicated to the front.

I very rarely ever even touch the front brake , scares the shit out of me going over grit :kissing

I SURE know what you mean. The last time I laid a bike down was on Beach Road in Jomtien. There was sand on the road and I locked up the front brake. Some may like them but no combination brakes for me.

Cheshire tom states that they all look the same in the OP title which is probably not far from the truth .

I rest my case :kissing

I was really after info on bikes in the 125-150cc range. I already have a 110c bike and had pretty much discounted another 110 as a replacement. Thanks for the info on the Scoopy though.

Not sure who told you the PCX rear brake on the left is linked to the front as its not I tested the Yamaha and the PCX for me the PCX was streets ahead in feel and balance, but each to their own.
Obviously aimed at the 'man who can't put his phone down' market......

I also like to be in control of the brakes myself, and avoid the front disk on some road conditions, as it can be a little strong and lock up/snatch and put you on the ground. Does the PCX have any features to prevent front wheel lock?

Sorry Hamleklek, the scooby-doo (like the Fino) look to be aimed at the girlie market for me too... :banghead

Unfortunately anti-lock brakes appear to be too expensive for small bikes. There are a number of big bikes where they are standard or offered as an option. I think that option costs about $600 US. Someone buying a small bike would likely balk at paying that much for the braking system. Here in Thailand riders balk at paying for a decent helmet.

I do think that the systems could be made cheaper by using anti-lock for the front wheel only. Guys putting bigger or dual brakes on the front are throwing away money for a more dangerous braking system. The standard brakes are capable of locking up the front wheel so why make it easier to lock up? Racing bikes where heat is a problem benefit from bigger discs but they are certainly a waste for street bikes. I often ride in the mountains up here and have never experienced even a hint of brake fade.

There is also the aspect of being in the rain which makes a disc a slight worry.

A wet road can give you a wheel lock...... and the rain can cause the disc to be weak. I hate riding in heavy rain as I go slowly then assholes in cars get up your ass and honk at you when there is plenty room to go round. Thais seem to think you belong in the gutter where there is 3/4 inches of water!

There is no doubt that the PCX would be a very comfortable ride IF you replace the stock seat with a custom seat without the silly bump and one that slopes to the rear rather than to the front. Neither bikes are performance race bikes but both are great short range transportation. The Elegance is a bit faster and more bike for the money, at least the money that comes out of my pocket. An extra 19,000 baht is a lot to pay at least in part for two items that I certainly don't want.

My PCX front brak does not come on when I activate the rear brake, infact I can use the front on its own not sure where all this tripe comes from I ride one .. i know what it does..

The Honda retains a better second hand value, if you dont want one dont buy one I am a fat fuck so the stabilty is better on the Honda, very happy with it ...

Of they brakes comne on together why are there two levers :whistling: :hairout

Your scoot must be a one off creation then as the PCX definitely has combi brakes.

The left lever activates both front and rear the the right lever is front only.

As I mentioned previously, if you are happy with your bike, that is what is important. Are you SURE you bought a PCX? Put the bike on the center stand, have someone sit on the back and apply the left brake lever and see if you can turn the front wheel.

I had a look at the PCX and decided that the additional expense wasn't really justified for features that I'd just as soon do without.

The Combined Braking System (CBS) was one of those features and it came as standard. From Honda's own website ...

Did you try the idea of putting it up on the stand and operating the left brake lever?

I mean you shouldn't be out riding it if you haven't got a clue how it works?

I do think the PCX is the best looking scooter on the market. Had they made the brakes and the stop/start features optional and lowered the price, I would have been more interested.

As Tom mentioned, with the exception of the bulgy sided Scoopy and Fino, they do all look pretty much the same.

Fuel injection is a great advance and makes for easier starting and smoother running when the engine is cold. BUT, a good friend of mine bought one of the first fuel injected Honda Waves. He bitched about it for about two years. It would just stop running. The dealer worked on it a number of times and wouldn't/couldn't fix it. A bigger dealer finally found the problem and it cost my friend 5,000 baht to replace some sort of control unit. By then it of course was out of warranty. That Wave runs like a champ now.

For reliability and longevity, you can't go wrong with the Honda Wave. It might not be the most stylish, but it will last longer than those other gay fart bag bikes. I wish the wife would have never traded ours in for a FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT FINO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Buy your wave if the PCX is too rich, yours may brake with the front when you apply the rear mine dont mate, maybe I should not be out riding I bet you have not even got a full bike licence, I have ridden bigger engine bikes than you have cars mate :dhorse :llaugh

Dont you think Honda would do away with the front brake ?

Some of you boys do talk rubbish

lol @ Stinky on a Fino !!

My click (well the missus's) is now 3 yrs old with nearly 20,000km on the clock, its going strong and has been 100% reliable.

The Yamaha Fino is a piece of junk. I would not recommend anyone waste their money on this pile of shit. :dhorse
