Traffic tickets and bribes

I didn't realise you were using the McThai website. The Big Mac is on there, 78 baht:     .

"Backwards" is my old normal. Not now. GIYF. Go to google and type, for example 1.5 sterling in baht or 74 baht in sterling   for example.

Probably loads more.

Yes, probably more...

Let me see...ah, "companionship" on short, long time, or extended long time basis.

Repairs of all sorts...auto, motorbike, electronics (many times)

Fast Thai food...street vendors etc.

Clothing at the outdoor markets...cheap but generally shoddy workmanship.

I bought a Magnum Ice Cream for 40B in the 7-11 which is cheaper than in a similar shop in the UK.

Quite a few of the items mentioned in the other thread as being more expensive for Americans in Pattaya compared to home are cheaper in Pattaya than in the UK.

We're not known as rip-off Britain for nothing!

I think Accommodation has to be included with the real bargains. The guest houses around LK and Boukhao are very good value for what you get.

Buying a bottle of whisky in a bar is way cheaper.

Taxi's - A 120km taxi in UK would be £180, in Pattaya approx £25

Most Pharmacy stuff

Hotels can be had much cheaper than the UK for equivalent facilities.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Surrey regularly (not by choice we have meetings there) ). The rack room rate is £255 (12500bht) a night. Internet and movies in the room is £28 (1400bht) extra per night. There is no fridge. There is a mini bar but it is stocked with 1 can of beer two cans of soft drink and a half a bottle of wine. I think there's some water in it as well. If you as much as knock it it will charge the drinks to your room bill. No room for anything else in there. I hang Singha (Yai) Beer out of the window (bought from Tescos at £1.33.) Beer is £4.20(210bht) a glass. A burger costs £11.68.((580bht) It does have a fitness centre and a small swimming pool usually full of fat old women.

The room has no air con but it has controlled heating. There are no bathroom toiletries (you have to ring for them if you have forgotten anything).

Compare that to any reasonable hotel in Pattaya.

I don't think they are updating their figures correctly.

A Big Mac Set right now is 128b...over $4 USD.

I can't find pricing for an a la carte Big Mac.Still I can't recall having to spend $4.15 or so for a Big Mac with fries and a drink...

As it is, my overall impression, without delving into the individual menus of the US originated fast food joints, is that they are not generally cheaper.

Maybe they are.

But, it'd take specific menu items from the vendors in Thailand vs USA to convince me.

In the meantime, I'll stick to non-franchised food.

Now that is a biggie!

Well done for mentioning that.

I think auto insurance is really cheap too. I paid about $550 USD/YEAR for coverage in Thailand...I'm sure it was way more in the USA.

Filling up your Motorcar/Motorbike at the petrol/gas station.

For some, such as Yurpeens, but not for others, such as North Americans.
