BKK to Pattaya - Best pickup service?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am travelling to pattaya in August and i was wondering who the best Taxi company is to arrange to be picked up by.

Last time i came a few years ago i used a company (forget the name) who didnt turn up, it caused all sorts of problems. This time i would like to use a good company that people have good things to say about.

An email addrress of a good company would be brilliant :)

Any help or info greatly appreicted

Many recommend taxi pickup services.

I personally prefer to just grab a yellow taxi at the front...no searching around, a fixed rate (1500baht), and you're on your way.

But, if you want to go the taxi pickup service route, I am sure lots will come on to recommend various favorites.

I've tried just picking up a taxi off the street. No problem at all. The driver was glad to get the money, I'm sure. The only problem was that when we got to Pattaya, he didn't know where he was going and he finally had to pay a motorcycle taxi guy to show him the way to my hotel.

As for taxi services? I've used these guys a few time without a problem:

I just tried Tan (actually she spells it Tann on her website) for a ride from the international airport to Pattaya and was quite disappointed for the following reasons:

1. I waited almost 30 minutes at our designated meeting place before the driver showed up.

2. Despite her website advertising: "English speaking safe, female driver", the driver was a male with rudimentary English speaking skills.

3. I Emailed the hotel name and address several days before arrival. The driver had a difficult time finding the hotel and probably wasted 10 minutes or more looking for such.

4. Tann's website advertises 1200 bath from international airport to Pattaya but driver tried to charge me 1500 baht. After a bit of an argument he accepted the 1200.

To be fair the car looked to be fairly new and in excellent condition and the driver was not a crazy driver as I have found many times.

Toom was reliably waiting for me yesterday despite the flight coming in late.

Good car and driver.

Had to hike to the car park as usual which I never enjoy.

Between finding the driver and the hike to the parking garage , I've decided it's better for my taste just to grab a waiting taxi.

Drivers from Pattaya are great for people who don't know the location of their hotel... They are just not for me anymore.

A fair point, of course I came through customs around door number 10 and had to hike back to #3.

Fortunately the guy was kind enough to take over the luggage cart from me.

How long do you normally have to queue or wait at the regular taxi stand?

Agree with LBJ.. TheLimoPattaya.com has worked great for me. I've had about ~20 trips with them and only minor issues a couple times, never anything major like a no show.

It's owned and run by a Thai lady (Eve) and she knows what she'd doing. I don't even screw with the website anymore. Just simply send her and email with my flights/hotel and done.

1200 Baht each way.

I use to do the same. One guy fell asleep at the wheel. I thought it was a one off. 3 months later and another guy did the same. I think these guys work long hours and aren't use to driving on the hiway.

Never had to wait long Jacko. Maybe 2 minutes max.

Thx for answering. It is a couple of years now since I went straight to the taxi line, once had to queue to get the chit and was uncomfortable in the heat for 10 minutes or so.

thelimopattaya.com

+1

You will probably have to walk to the parking garage but they seem to know Pattaya. I have used them many times on several routes, (BKK to Bangkok; BKK to Pattaya; Pattaya to Utapao; Bangkok to Pattaya and reverse routes) but, it's been awhile since my last visit so YMMV.

If you can give directions once you get to Pattaya then grab a taxi out front of the airport. If you don't know, you might be in for a long frustrating ride.

A taximeter got lost in Bangkok once looking for my hotel, I had a cell phone and the hotel's phone number. If the driver turns out to be an idiot there is no fixing that. I spent over an hour in the city riding in circles. I finally hopped out and walked to the closest hotel for the night.

Another vote from me for The Limopattaya.com. I used them four times on my last trip without any problems. Two male and two female drivers. My only slight criticism was that they were a little slow in answering emails

One time I actually tried the "limo" service that has a stand near the baggage claim area in the Bangkok airport. It was 2800 baht, but the driver was actually a safe driver. The ride to Pattaya was pleasant and never once did I feel like I was about to die.
