day visa runs Pattaya to whereever?

Recommended Posts

I think a visa run by land only gets you another 2 weeks in Thailand while coming in by air gets you 30 day visa.

Unless you have a proper visa. I did this several times on a multiple entry Non-Imm. B visa.

You can also do it on a multiple entry tourist visa, and get 60 days per entry, which you can of course extend an additional two weeks at Immigration.

Don't go to Immigration to extend until the 60 days are almost up though, because the extension applies from the day you make the application, not from the exit date.

edited to correct the number of days per entry

A multiple entry tourist visa should get you 60 more days when you re-enter. That is what I got a couple of months ago.

I had a two entry visa, and the airport immigration gave 60 days. Then when I re-entered by land, another 60 days.

Has something changed?

That's right, it's a 60 day entry that can be extended for 30 days, so with a two entry visa and a single border run you're good for almost 6 months.

The Visa on Arrival at the airport is the one that is only good for one month and can be extended two weeks.

If you are getting 30 days upon arrival, it is almost certainly admission without a visa. Don't believe there are any extensions available. Some official sources say you are limited to 90 days in Thailand in a 6 month period via admissions without visa; no idea as to the actual practice.

They tried to implement this several Years ago, but it turned out that practically all immigration officers were mathematically challenged in such a way that nobody seemed to get it right, so it was abandoned.

I use a "Non Immigrant O " visa which is valid for 12 months multiple entry and I get 90 days whenever I go out/in,

does mean I have to go back to my home country every 12 months to renew ,,but that is not an issue for me.

Works for me!

I don't have to go back home to get a new visa, just another country that will issue a multiple entry.

The other caveat is, if you exit and return just before the visa expires, you get an extra 90 days.

There is no such limitation on airport entries.... but any immigration official has the right to question you or refuse entry.

Apparently now the extension is for only 7 days at the original cost of 1,900 Baht.

Not that long ago you could get an additional 15 days for that price.

My complaint with Five Star Visa Runs is that they serve too many baked beans in their breakfasts. It's not the English breakfast you get at the Sportsman's Pub but a variant that's very heavy on the beans and it's difficult to beat the Russians in a farting contest to the border. So I recommend First Class Visa Runs, located in the Queen Vic on Soi 6. Both these companies are more expensive than others but they do provide more service, like movies and Wifi.
