Game of Thrones would be just below Breaking Bad but just above Rome and Sherlock in my estimations.....

But Im pretty easy to please....killing Eve has been fun..... now relaxing with. 5 out of 10 called Manifest.

HBO announced the Deadwood movie premieres May 31, 2019 !!! https://www.hbo.com/deadwood/movie-what-to-know-so-far

I had a few days of business in Las Vegas this week.  So we headed out early last Friday, 19 to spend a nice weekend where it is warm (been unseasonably cold here in S Cal the last few months.  Barely

Here's another Thai advert, notice the guy has a bottle of fish sauce next to his rice, one of the simple meals poor people eat.

I might not bother then. A show has to be exceptionally good for me to watch it because I don't want to invest the time involved unnecessarily. The Sopranos, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under and Rome are the only shows I've ever watched in their entirety. I'm not really a fan of TV. We don't even have any channels in our place. A lot of people I've spoke to in the past have raved about Game of Thrones. Is that as good as people say?

Game of Thrones is good if you like Lord of the Rings, mixed with a touch of Harry Potter....... and a bit of gratuitous nudity. Very much an epic. Hard to say who will like it, I thought over-hyped but worthy. I agree with you about the Sopranos., loved it too, but I do like the gangster type things. Did you try Boardwalk Empire? I even went back into history and watched I Claudius.

Better Call Saul is not quite as wild and outrageous as BB. More nuanced.. Well written, superb production values. Cinematography, editing on par with BB. Watching the character development of Saul and others who appear in BB is special. We are halfway through the current season and really enjoy it!

Agree. Fun seeing some of the favorite characters (and actors) from BB. As a prequel it fills in a lot concerning how the characters got to their places in BB.

Sadly, prequels sometimes lose credibility when actors who when older, are supposed to be playing a younger character than previously. In the case of BB and BCS, Mike/ Johnathan Banks looks near geriatric, but is supposed to be a tough guy!

Banks always looked older than his role but it works in this prequel. Gus Fring looks great. Saul looks fine. I think there has been enough of a time gap between the shows that it works for fans. BB was the far superior show. BCS is for fans of the original.

I was out of the country and missed some of this season's episodes and now they are unavailable On Demand on cable, so I will wait for the Netflix release in a few months and do a marathon. I prefer that anyway. Watching Billions season 3 currently. Oh and Endeavor season 5.

Episodes - comedy. Might not be for everyone

First 4 seasons were great IMO. The 2 year hiatus between the 4th and 5th made me kinda forget about it and the direction the show went made me lose interest so never finished it. 1-4 though........very good.

The final Season of Game of Thrones should start in July 2019:

" The final season is season 8, and HBO has confirmed it's coming in 2019, and will consist of six episodes. Only six, but they'll be super-sized, with each episode possibly the length of a movie."

"It's gonna be the biggest battle in TV history, I can definitely say that. It's just getting bigger and badder."

Ray Donovan just restarted and the first episode is much better than the final two was in the last season. Also quite good is Bad Blood about the Canadian maffia and The Deuce about the 1970s -80s porn industry. Blindspot is on also. I agree, Manifest is turning into a soap. I also watched Mile22 and found it quite good.

If you don't like plot spoilers, be careful surfing the net. The outcome of GoT season 8 is already out there as well as summaries of each of the final 6 episodes.

About time.

Right, I've a confession. following the hype I decided to watch "that haunting of Hill house" on Netflix.

Being somewhat of a hard cunt, I decided to watch the first episode in the dark, lights off , alone in my house. Easy eh?

You can fuck that off with a shitty stick.

Half way through the second ep, alone and in the dark, Mrs butch and Jr turned up but I failed to see the car pulling up due to the curtains being closed. Butch Jr rapped on the window as she normally does and I fucking shit my pants, jumped up and shouted a few profanitites out while grabbing my remote by way of defending myself.

Half way through the second episode, the lights are on, big stick to hand and half a ton of popcorn on standy. I'm 48 FFS, shouldn't be scared of a TV program, they're only actors. Trust me, this is well worth a look, if only for the clever use of cinematography and tension. Out of focus "ghosts", half expected but totally unexpected events and some very good acting makes this a must see.

here be a warning:

DO NOT watch with a TGF, FGF or anyone else except yourself. lights off, alone in the house is really the only way to enjoy such a series. It is very well made, very well directed will make those "goosebumps" appear. This is one of those "don't distract me by asking questions" Shows, it needs to be enjoyed alone.

This is a real gem of a series, even the child actors are good for the most part, and apart from some poor animatronics (kitten scenes) it is really very very good indeed.

I'll have to see this......

I'm not horror fan......I gave away my Tubular bells LP after the Exorcist.

But if this series can scare someone as butch as Butch I have to measure myself.....While wearing my teflon coated underpants.

I got hooked last night on the British TV series "Bodyguard"

It is about a former British soldier suffering from PTSD that as a cop stopped a suicide bombing and is now the personal bodyguard of the Home Secretary.

It streams on Netflix

Well I've just this minute finished watching S01E05 of the Haunting of hill house.

Half way through the one character centred episode, I started to get bored , but stuck with it and was fine until the last 15 minutes which had me in goosebumps and on edge.

Mrs Butch joined me for the last half hour and was pretty uninterested, but she ran her hand over my leg and said it's all tense and hairy!

Honestly, yet again this delivered tension, unexpected scenarios and some good acting. The girl playing "Nell" is exeptional in this episode as it is centered on her but she delivers the atmosphere, feeling and horror in spades.

My only gripe is that the "green screen" scenes are easily spotted due to a very slight mismatch between the actor and the background, much like a superimposed image, but I think that's a fault of 4kHD rather than production itself.

I'm not really looking forward to the next episode lol. Without wanting to do a series synopsis or theme (which you'll work out by Ep3 anyway) it is apparent to see which direction the storyline is going, but the way in which that story is delivered is really something else.

Sorry Butch, but on your recommendation I've just struggled through to Ep. 7 and am now giving up. To say I was a bored is putting it mildly, what with the obligatory lesbian relationship, mixed marriages, flickering lights, thunderstorm etc. Not to mention the boring, endless dialogue, initially total confusion of jumps in location and time. To me this is a completely contrived series based on a constant expectation of horrors to come, clever camera work and a dislocated plotline. Pity, I was looking forward to an excellent piece of work, but I'm clearly not bright enough to appreciate the Daliesque. 3/10.
