Improvements at immigration

At immigration this morning at about 10am, second day after Songkran, to submit my retirement extension.  It no longer looks like the waiting room for day passes from Hades.  They're well into the process of adding permanent overhead covers on the west side.  Tents still up on the east side.  Most people were seated.

There was a sign for retirements.  They took a quick look to see that I had a TM.7 and some supporting documents and gave me a slip to get in the front door.  Couple people in front of me at the front counter and then got traditional printed number.  Young guy, polite and with good English grabbed me almost immediately and looked over the application.  There was a deviation in the format of the deposit letter they wanted from the bank.  He had an example of the format and said take a picture of it.  Had to make a trip to the Bangkok Bank branch on 2nd road which was not the highlight of the day.

Kept the queue number which got me back in the door.  Same guy reviewed it and said all good, come back Monday for my passport.

Actual time at immigration was probably no more than 20 minutes.

I got my regular letter from a BB sub branch near Sukhumvit, and at that time they asked which letter I was looking for. Suggests they know what is required. I did hear some banks the letter had to be ordered and took a day to obtain. 

Nice to hear positive news wrt immigration. It is far too hot to be keeping older people standing around outside.
