How many lemon trees have you seen growing in Thailand. It is worth your while to get a plant yourself, if you can find one....

I bought two lemon trees at the garden center across fro Bangkok Pattaya hospital. They grew and were lime.

I think you need to tell us what items you need to know about...

I haven't lived there for most of 10 years, but I will in about 10 months.  So, pretty much everything.  Staying away from the exotic and illegal would probably be helpful.

I have to say that guys seem to get the spirit of what I'm asking, and I'm grateful for the input so far.

That was my first reaction when he selectively stopped "Visa Comments" which were fewer than "Shaving cream" comments and also less than the later "Juice" comments.

I'll just randomly join in until he tells us to stop commenting on any particular subject.

Generally, I'd prefer if we stuck to the price of things I'd buy, or spend money on, to set up accommodations and live in Pattaya/Thailand.  Maybe it would be helpful if a mod were to update the thread title to reflect that?

Thanks to all who have contributed so far.  Please keep it coming.   😎

Nothing wrong with the occasional splurge.  Or the occasional celibate night for that matter.

Peroxide is just H2O2, the brother to water.

The worst it would do is bleach something if left on.

I started buying Dettol when I first came here, I like the smell, and it also doubles for medicinal use.  Don't know why but it seems a recent thing for me to baulk at the price of some things.

Washing powder is another pricey item, she does a lot of washing, and I have to buy the stuff with a picture of a front loader on it!  She manages to get bleach marks on a lot of things which I believe comes from the use of 'Haiter' in a pink bottle... she will pour it straight onto things sometimes.

Sailing Bill mentions Villa often, I pretty much never go in there, it's the Pattaya equivalent to Harrods for me! Big-C have a sort of member card which you just scan at checkout, and every now and again I get a discount of 100-150 baht which is worth having! The pastries in there are quite good and a single serving quiche is about 70 baht and a nice snack with a coffee. Can get a coffee for 40 baht, I have already mentioned my aversion to paying silly Starbucks prices.  I talk to a USA guy in there who gets those sachets of coffee and sugar and a cup of hot water for less. I think it is rubbish, but he says there is some cholesterol advantage over the filtered/brewed stuff I get.  There are some odd folks and old disabled falangs in there early mornings who seem to pass time. At weekend by midday it is packed like a school canteen.

Good to know , there is a Big C I didn't know was near me by Alcazar. I read the reviews and very favorable. It must be tucked away as I have not seen it when passing on 2cd road.  Of course Jacko is from the UK and so we don't eat the same pickles ,Mayo frozen dinners and of course Mushy Peas but I will give the Big C a try, thanks.

I was a regular visitor to Villa Market on 33/1 in the 90s purely for the excellent choice of decent French wine in the "upstairs cellar" but I wouldn't go in the Pattaya one for much the same reason as you !!!

There is no where locally that sells Equal sweetener sachets so we got 3 x boxes of 100 sachets delivered today.

One box of 100 sachets cost 146 baht including delivery and including an excellent glass container with a clip on lid.

I'm sure they will be cheaper in Pattaya but that is what I paid rather than use half a tank of petrol going to Ubon City ..

300 sachets should last me about 100++ days ...

it is definitely not the brother to water if its in the concebtrated form.  I worked in a Gelatine factory and we used it as a steriliser.  Had 1,000 litre tanks and it was piped throughout the factory.  It was bloody dangerous stuff.

One of the pipes developed a tiny leak and it dripped onto wood over a period of time. One night it caught fire and burnt the factory down.

The stuff that's sold here in the Netherlands and Thailand is 3%.It disappeared of the shelves a few years ago, because.terrorists could use it. I can only get the 120ml plastic bottle and only two at a time. Its good as a general steriliser and wound cleaner.Keep it away from children and childlike adults.

My bottle is only 3%, if you leave it out overnight with the cap off, it would just be water in the morning.

As I was writing that bit about H2O2 I was also thinking it is an oxidizer that can act almost like a catalyst for causing a fire, which would nearly seem like Spontaneous Combustion.

I encourage you to try their version of we think of as baked beans, made by Heinz.  The beans are bigger than baked beans, and come in a sweet tomato sauce without the molasses so the flavor is not similar, but they are very nice nonetheless.  It sounds funny to American ears, but those beans, on toast, is a really nice snack.  I used to buy them at Jules Sportarama Bar and restaurant in View Talay 1A, and he had a large assortment of flavors at the time.

What are we payin' for Heinz beans these days?

I haven't bought shirts from a market for well over 5 years and when I did I think they were probably 120 Baht each..

Today I bought 6 new shirts (Hooray!) at 2 for 120 Baht at the local market here. Better quality than the ones I had purchased previously at Buakhao market.

I'd be interested in how the taste of these compares to, say, B&M.
