Appreciate your dilema - my rule -- I do not wear anything that requires ironing. Proper folding is IMHO the way to go. The only thing I will wear that needs ironing is my one suit and one tux, and I hate like heck to have to wear them.

There just isn't one set cut and dried figure - everybody's style and needs are different -- for example, I just spent February and March in Pats this year and not counting lodging expenses (Dynasty), a figure that will vary widely, I budget about 1500 USD per month. I personally do not drink, but still like to go to bars, and I do not spend alot on food as I avoid the more expensive tourist type of restaurants. I always have baht left over.

OK Stinky - sounds reasonable to me - perhaps I will try to look you up in July and August and I will buy you a cool one. Differences of opinion and the such is what makes the world go round - cheers.

I agree with joekicker - the only time I have used a Thai dental facility was in Phuket - everything went good, it was very reasonable in price, and I was happy-happy.

You are right -- some people just have the need to overpay....I also disagree with his take and advice on this subject. But remember, it was he who in the General Discussion topics who recently said that he was a long-time permanent resident who could not find a decent person to have a drink with in Patts....the way he is "throwing baht around" could be a turn-off for some "decent" mates.

LOOKING FOR INFO FROM A SABAI INN VETERAN - I have made a reservation at Sabaii Inn for two months in July and August - they came back and confirmed it but did not ask for any credit card data to hold reservation - is that their policy? On all other previous trips to bkk or patts the hotel (i.e.Dynasty A-l or Sunsine) would ask for credit card data etc to hold a reservation. I am not complaining, really, that Sabai is not asking for CC data, but I just do not have that warm and fuzzy feeling about the reservation since I am not into them for anything at this point. Would appreciate anyone w

Thanks again for the info -- Imus, Paris, Opie&Ugly, dipstick politicians and the price of gas -- screw it, I am headin' on back to Pattaya. I have to admit though - I'd like to see a return to the days of 40-1 -- it was much easier for my mathematically-challenged brain to handle. It is time for more tattoos anyway.

If you want close to Nana Plaza, the Dynasty Inn BKK is about 50 feet from it. Rooms are 1280 baht per night. Just google Dynasty Inn Bangkok and you can reserve that way. I usually stay there upon arrival BKK for one night prior to going to Pattaya next day. They have free minibus service at 1100 the next day to Pattaya, provided you stay at least two days at the Dynasty Inn Pattaya or Dynasty Inn Resort Jomtein. I have stayed at both Pattaya locations numerous times and they are good for the money - the Dynasty Inn is centrally located on Soi 13 Pattaya (one hundred yards from beach)

Tenqotodo - You are exactly right....it will not change my freakin' plans one iota - I guess I was just being curious - I apologize to all for such an inane query.

Self Defence Tips to Protect Yourself in Pattaya
yesiam replied to John-IT's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
Yea, there is absolutely no reason to be fighting in Pattaya. As always, the primary reason that to-do's do happen is because of a bit too much to drink. The previous writer's advice to get the hell out of dodge is ALWAYS the best course of action. If you do get stuck in a position that you need to defend yourself, I have always found that the time-honored martial art, know as bottle-and-chair, works pretty good in the short term, followed by the get-the-hell-out-of-dodge maneuver shortly thereafter. -
Thanks elef - thats what I was looking - I knew the local rate was usually higher that the posted off-shore rates. Thanks for the quick source. yesiam

I stayed in Pattaya during March 2007 and will be coming back July 2007. In March the going rate was around 34.50. What is the going rate at present? (Also, I agree with other posts, airline tickets are way up right now).
