Hi,
I noticed that if I surf through a google search into Pattayatalk it always goes to this view and I have to switch it. If I go directly onto Pattayatalk then it stays in my prefered view type. No idea why but it is a little annoying.

I've stayed at the Marriot and it does have direct access to Beach Road.
Hi Ya,
I read the blurbon the site as saying the hotel had direct access to 'The Beach' rather than direct access to 'Beach Road'. Couldn't work out how they would have it as beach road is in between the Marriot and The Beach... Still I was completely wrong with the hotel anyway as Evil came to the rescue with much more likely answers.

TG917 & TG910 are the night flights & almost always 747s except a few months back when due to low numbers (I think) an Airbus was used
747s have no seat back screens in economy.
Done the trip 60+ times now and now I never use any inflight systems... board, eat, sleep, wake, eat, disembark
Simples!
.
Hi Regyai,
That sounds about right then for March this year..as I remember the plane designation on the day flight being an airbus not a 747 and serisously considered swapping as I am not a big fan of the older 747 facilities in comparison to the airbus. Then I remembered what long haul day flights are like and throught sod it and took the night flight instead.

Here are the links:

http://latestays.com/mystery-hotel-beach-r...pattaya-5-star/
I'm guessing one is the Marriott. Not sure what the other could be.
Are you thinking the 5 Star one is the Marriot? I only ask cause it quotes direct access to the beach and I am sure Marriot doesn't have this?

They used A340s on the route earlier this year.
Hi CheshireTom,
You could be right, I think thai airways have one day flight and one night flight. I always take the night one and it's been the 747 both times (Oct '08 and March '09) but if memory serves the day flight was an airbus variant but that was back in march. The Thai airways website is still stating they use 747's on the LHR-BKK route though.
I may have my flight numbers mixed up and confusing the two flights.

Hi mate,
as far as I am aware Thai are still running 747's on th TG917 route at least as of March this year . There was no IFA other than the communal screens. Eva who also fly the route have IFA's in the seatback and I fly with them for the first time in a couple of weeks so will know better then.

Hi,
Flew with them last October. Not to bad, I just didn't like the wait inbetween flights. Although not to long (about 1:30) just nothing to do in the airport. My gates were no more than 10 minutes apart as the airport isn't that big. There are even a couple of smoking rooms for those that partake.

Hi Guys,
i think I got the same deal with Eva. I booked to go out 24th Sept (Thursday) and back 10th Oct (Sat). Eva were running a deal in July (may have been in June as well but didn't check about my flights until July). £402.00 for my dates and playing with my dates didn't seem to effect the price too much as long as I didn't go to far into Oct. If memory serves I think the deal was depature in Sept...
It was a pretty good deal as far as I am concerned, payed £500+ in March with Thai and £450 last Oct and that one was indirect with Gulf.
Checking today the price has gone up for my dates which makes sense if their sale was succesful and looking at the seat plan the plane seems to be pretty full.
The £280.00 mentioned in this thread would have to be without Taxes...otherwise I am no quite so chuffed with my price...lol

Sorry to thread jack but do you show World Superbikes at all? I am out during 27th Sept (Imola) and 4th Oct (Magny Cour) races.
4th also has MOTOGP (Estoril) so want to see both if possible. but generally if live they dovetail the two superbike races with the motogp inbetween so get hours of back to back racing with beer in my hand.
Oh and of course F1 is on both weekends but they are fly away (Singapore/Suzuka) so don't think the times should clash as I want to watch them as well. Sure you say on your website that you shows these races.
I think I ended up going to Molly Malones last time I was out to watch the WSBK as I think they only show it on certain networks and that was the only place I could find that could get it.
Anyway...again sorry but wanted to check..soudns like I maybe spending alot of these weekends at your establishment :-)
Petrolhead that I are I like to watch as much as possible!!!

just to mention LHR....Payed 405.00 direct to BKK with EVA going out sept 24th....not sure if the deal is still going though....think no matter what you will have to change planes flying from BHX and I personally prefer to get it out of the way and at the price I paid it was about 10 quid more expensive than I payed last Oct for an indirect with gulf air
I use netflights.com they have consistently had the cheapest prices when I check.

1) Don't bareback a Bargirl unless you like playing russian roulette
2) Be careful when talking to or referring to the thai royal family
3) Relax, enjoy and expect to get ripped off at least a bit
4) When pissed remember the name of your hotel and which soi it's on
5) Relax, enjoy and don't forget it's your money and there job to get it out your wallet as fast as possible... enjoy the experience and often very creative ways the Thai's have for parting you from your $$$
6) Use this forum...just about everthing from prices, places to people is covered.
Unfortuantly I am not in town until 25th Sept, by which time you will be a vetran :-) with a much lighter wallet but a head full of memories..
have a good holiday

Talking with my Big Bro on MSN last night and turns out he is going to be in Cebu around the same time I am going to be in Pattaya. We fancy getting together for a Davies Brothers royal Piss up and Shagathon. I am trying to persuade him that it would be better for him to come to Patts but think I may end up going to meet him in Cebu as his mate lives there, we get free accomodation and he is still falling in love with SE Asia as this will only be his second trip to the region.
Anyway, I have been trying to work out the best way to get ffrom Patts to Cebu..at the moment all I seem to be able to find is BIG cost flights from Cathay (Via Hong Kong) or Cebu Pacific via Manila, both from BKK. Does anyone know of any other way of flying direct? or a cheap, quick alternative as I will only be hooking up for a few days? I know I am hoping but I was trying to avoid going back to BKK if I could (fly from uTapou) but think that is just not feasable. I read somewhere there was a direct flight but this was from several years ago and I can see it listed anwhere..
Any help, advice would be most appriecated

Hi,
Can you yes..as long as they are listed on the sites.
However, You are more likely to get a better price at the desk as these don't need to be listed/published so they are essentially filling an empty room. (i.e. they block book x number of rooms for x price over x period and publish these to the various hotel room aggregators).
There are cases however where the internet price is exactly that (Internet only). If I were you I would get the best price for the time period I wanted online then go into the hotel itself. Have a look and then try drive your price down to at least your net quoted price.
If the price they quote you is way over your internet price you can show him your quote for online booking and ask him to match it.
If the price he gives you is under your internet quote then just keep your quote in your pocket and say thankyou.
If he will not meet the internet price then log in (I have actually done this in a hotel lobby before) and book it via the site then wander up to the desk.

Their website sucks...The rooms look amazing and the position is pretty good. So like a good lad I search the site for rates/pricing...nothing....okay no problem I will email them and ask about costs and availability...nothing.... can't find an email address either....okay...how about a contact number...no not got one of those either....hmmm....HELP...I so want a some sweet thai lovin' in the Harem room. And to get my GEEK on in the space room...hmm..thai girl(s) in a princess leia bikini on that bed...hmmm...
Has anyone ever stayed here? Do you have a contact email? or any information in general on this place? and before I get moaned at...lol...I did a search on this website to check before I posted this....and it came back blank.
Thanks in advance fellow boardies....

Any BMs own and rent out any condos? Preferably in VT6 on the south side, but anything considered.
I've tried several of the property agents but most don't even reply and of those that do, their response was just about useless.
Cheers,
Knortyboy.
Hi Knortyboy,
Try Dancewatchers....Tik and Micheal are excellent and there condos are very well looked after. I stayed in one in March this year...VT6 16th Floor i think. Great location...just get one that looks onto Walking street as apposed to Nakula as the Festival centre is right next door and the noise from the air con was quite bad. (Apparently they may have done something about this since then but don't know for sure so I would err on the side of caution)... The place is so central and easy to get around, the guards are great guys and I used the pool half a dozen times and Ithink only once was their anyone else even in it.... I struggled to find anyone else that was doing rentals in VT6.

Hi Mate,
As the BM above has covered the journey to stanstead part and very well in my humble opinion, I would like to way in on the Air Asia bit...be very careful, the big numbers you see advertized are generally for ONE WAY only. So when you factor in the onward leg to bangkok, then all the return legs and the possible overnighter in KL it generally isn't any cheaoer. You maybe able to get a deal with another airline for KL to BKK but when you look around at the deals going at moment straight from the uk such as:
(of course this depends on when your going but the deals below are showing availability in Aug/Sept/Oct at least on Netflights)
e.g. EVA are running a promotion of £405.00....Thats direct from LHR....that is flipping amazing, I was chuffed to pay £500.00 in march this year and thought that was a deal. Jet are running via Mumbai for arouind £340.00 along the most of the Arab airlines if you don't mind indirect flights.
If I was fliying to KL as my destination I would consider them...that and Stanstead is closer to me than LHR...but if flying on anywhere else I just don't think the figures stack up against the deals that are floating around this low season.
Have a good trip dude...

Now the death of anyone is not something I wish to mock nor show any disrespect to and is always a sad event. Having said this, on reading the below I think I have found the way I wish to die when my turn comes around.....
German Man mysteriously dies following night of drinking with bar girls in his Hotel Room.
On Sunday Morning, Police were called to the Siam Bayshore Hotel located in South Pattaya following reports of the sudden death of a German hotel guest. Officers were directed to room number 207 to inspect the body of Mr. Stefen Babich aged 40. An inspection of the room and body were made and no signs of foul play were found. However, the night before, he was known to be in the company of 5 local bar workers who were known to have slept in the room and discovered the body of Mr. Babich in the morning when they woke up. We spoke with one of the women who was inside the room at the time, Khun Jenjira aged 19 who explained that Mr. Babich had picked up the girls at a bar on Walking Street and invited them back to his room for drinks. They all drank heavily and eventually fell asleep. When they woke up later in the morning, they realized that Mr. Babich had died. The exact cause of death is unknown at this time and Police are waiting for the results of a post mortem examination before they proceed with the case.

In Flight Entertainment on Thai Airways Flight

Just to report back as promised, I flew EVA and to be honest I preferred it to Thai. Mind you the fact that it's a 777 not the 747 meant me prebooked seat was not where I had expected. For direct I would go EVA everytime if the prices are comparable. The only down side is the food on EVA really is not good ,even starting from the low point of being airline food... Thai was much better on this point.
Best of luck.
