I'm in Thailand! Got to Bangkok airport and decided to go to Phuket island! Everyone there was trying to get me to go to Pattaya or stay in Bangkok as I was a "young man" and the night life was best there. Thus, I figured there must be a ton of lonely ladies in Phuket as everyone was being talked out of going there. I purchased a ticket to Phuket and that is where I am now. In a few hours I'll be on my way to Thailand! First trip there. I want to thank everyone at this forum as this has been the best place for me to find information. I feel I'm ready to go. Not sure exactly where I'll end up--Pattaya, Bangkok, Patong, etc. I have plane tickets so far to Bangkok, but once I get there I'll make my decision on where to go from there--I like thinking up to the very last second. Might jump a plane elsewhere--time will tell. Thanks again, and I'll be giving you some reports once I get situated.

I recently emailed them and they gave me a quote of 426 baht per night and I didn't even tell them what I wanted to pay. Looks like a nice place to stay from their website, they do a relatively good job at answering most emails, and the reviews on them look very good. I'll be booking a room as soon as they finish answering some additional questions I have. I'll be there this time next week, so if anyone is going to be in Thailand around that time do make sure to look me up!

Thanks JimmyBcool for your excellent input. I will indeed look into Pattaya as a strong possibility now. To answer your question about why I need Internet...I run some businesses online--I make 100% of my income from running online businesses. As such, I can work anywhere in the world as long as I have a good Internet connection. I recently closed my 3,000 square foot studio and sold everything so I can start doing some traveling. So, I'm hoping to be able to continue to get some work done while I'm in Thailand.

I just purchased my ticket to Bangkok. So, this trip is really going to happen now. Now I just need to determine where best to go. I had planned to stay at Centre Point in Bangkok as they have high speed/unlimited Internet access in-room which is VERY important to me. But, maybe I should go to Pattaya? Suggestions anyone? Just make sure your suggestion include an apartment or hotel which also have high speed Internet in-room.

I am thinking about staying at Centre Point as I like their prices and the fact that they have in-room Internet access. I would enjoy hearing more about Centre Point from those that have stayed there. Also, they claim their Internet connection is 284 up and 284 down--is that about right? Also, which one of the Centre Point apartments would you recommend as best?

I've been looking for high speed and in-room Internet access as well. Centre Point looks good so far--284 kbps up and 284 down (unable to get much other details as they won't answer emails about their Internet access). Oakwood claims they have 1 mbps, but I contact the company that provides the access and it's shared with an average speed of only about 64 kbps! Haven't found much else at a reasonable price. I'd like to know what you find though. How long are you staying in BKK and when? I'll probably have an apartment with access soon enough and would possibly be interested in spl
