  1. Absolutely nothing at all. Assuming you speak German.
  2. Hang on! I like Joe and Hub ........... at least they've been around Thailand a bit and know what they're talking about. Can't we have a five-a-side? BigD can have Scally, Fruitcase, Jack etc.
  3. More like the Kurfurstendamm of Pattaya.
  4. Or an English lesson. I thought you were meant to be a writer.
  5. I'll pop by. You can show me around.
  6. Are you staying there when you arrive in Dec?
  7. Ok ...... you waited for two years to go online and complain about the staff. Whether or not it is good value is a matter of perception. The daily/weekly/monthly rates have now been posted for folk to make up their own mind on that particular point. There are several posts in this thread that suggest otherwise. Didn't Jack pay 16,500 Baht a month in the old Sky-Top before the prices increased?
  8. BigD, Not at all, BigD. I am equally scathing about the equally overhyped Nana. Show me where in this thread I've made negative comments about Skytop. Anyway, for every negative comment I've made about the place, you have made at least 10 recommendations for it. I wonder why. As for good customer service, it was you who waited till you got home and then went on the internet to complain about his staff, not I.
  9. Jack, To refresh your memory somewhat, the comment about the murderer were in response to your own comments about SkyTops high quality customers ............. At no point whatsoever was it claimed that it was what could be expected from SkyTop's typical customers. Did you just maKe that bit up to try and add some credibility to your post. Anyway, the owner's comments were not in response to those comments at all but in response to a post made by BigD where he moaned about an altercation he had with one of the staff over a remote handset. See above. Didn't one of the "high-quality" guests at Skyslops murder a barowner up the road not so long ago?
  10. magpie, Why open with a dig at the English? I can't see any posts by any English guys that justifies that sort of nonsense. Not at all, magpie ........... most of your posts have been posing as a satisfied customer of the Sky-Top. The comment wouldn't have been made if that wasn't the case. Funnily enough, the guy who complained about the remote was none other than BigD. I don't think anyone has made any observations as to how you do, or don't, handle complaints so I don't what incorrect statement you are putting in a factual context. Nobody questioned why you don't have a fire escape, only that you don't have one. That is not an incorrect statement. The reasons why are mute. Again, the comment was quoting the prices quoted on your website. The website may be wrong but the comment was 100% correct. You should be thanking, rather than berating, people for bringing it to your attention. It's a generally accepted marketing norm that if you are going to market something based on value or low-cost that you accurately advertise the prices you are charging. Not to do so pretty much negates the whole point of the exercise. Unfortunately, that's the nature of the business. Flight prices are the same from Uk as they were four years ago ........ folk just have to adapt to stay competitive. The fact is that there is an over abundance of hotel accommodation in Pattaya is good news for the traveller and they are not in the least bit concerned in anything but the price they are paying. Prices are low because supply outstrips demand. There will be very few price increases at the bottom end of the market because it is an extremely price sensitive segment. The call for increases was made by the 4 and 5 star hotels who have totally different marketing concepts, segmentation and price sensitivity from am eight-room gusthouse. BigD, The comparisons made quite clearly stated that they were for long-term (four weeks plus) stays. .
  11. Much higher rate? It's cheapest rooms are far better than SkyTop's best room and costs 5,300 Baht a week compared to SkyTop's 4,800 Baht for the same period. Chuck in the jacuzzi, free in-room wi-fi, curtains, superior furnishings etc etc. As for the location .............. closer to WS than SkyTop. However, if you do need to be near to Soi 6 try the Pinewood. Cheaper long term than SkyTop and far superior in every other respect. Pinewood Residences Emil, You can even get a Studio in the Marika for the same monthly rate as Skytop but that's where the similarities end. Marika
  12. Several. I wouldn't have mentioned it otherwise. It also has free wi-fi, jacuzzi in the bathrooms, its own restaurant, quality furnishings, balconies, tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms etc etc. Siam House is only one of several properties (many brand new) on the same road that are similarly priced, The same applies to the adjoining triangle bordered by 3rd Rd/Pratamnak/Pattaya Tai.
  13. It's not a discount it is the daily/weekly/monthly rates as quoted by the owner, as suggested by you and Jack. The daily/weekly/monthly rates for the biggest rooms were 800/4,800/20,800 Baht respectively. I didn't enquire what these rates would be discounted to during the low season. Suggesting that we compare the daily rate in high season with the monthly rate in low season is a nonsense. Whether the rate is shabby or not is a matter of opinion. For example, my mate Werner at the Siam House next to Nirvana Place has daily rates of 1,300 Baht and monthly rates of 18,000 Baht which is more in line with the rate differentials that you should expect regardless of the season. I'm sure that Emil can come up with many more examples. Siam House
  14. You've been around a bit Joe. What do you think?
  15. Well, Jack ............. according to Pete the owner, for a stay commencing in January, the rates for the best room are 800 Baht per night or 20,800 Baht for a one month (30 day) stay.
  16. Are either of you even members? Pattaya Revealed
  17. Who am I to argue with a Cambridge educated man such as yourself.
  18. Joe, The OP stated that the guest house has rooms available for a decent price. The point is, as he himself has confirmed, that he hasn't a clue whether they are a decent price or not because he is unaware of what the prices are likely to be. He assumes that they will be a decent price, that's all. Of course, the owner is a member of the forum and is aware of the contents of this thread. The easiest thing would be for him to post what the rates are (either on here or on the website) so folk could decide whether it was a decent price, or not.
  19. It seems like your last apology was straight out of your bullshit manual ............ BigDUSA Apr 11 2006, 03:57 AM Post #21 Elite Poster Group: Participant Posts: 8407 Joined: 2-May 02 Member No.: 56 No problem, I'm more then glad to offer my heartfelt apology to the women Hub married. If I had known he was married to her, I would not have mentioned her or her child. FWIW, I hope Hub and his family are happy, healthy and successful in life.
  20. You could always just nip up to Bang Saen. I understand they will be putting on a good show up there.
  21. Jack, The choke point you mention is only an issue heading towards the Walking Street area ....... to get anywhere else in town you head along 3 rd Road with all the benefis you enthused about. Coming from Naklua to South Pattaya on the Baht bus route during peak hours? Easy, you simply jump out around the Royal Garden and walk the rest or else like the guys from the RG you'll just be sat in a stationary baht bus. Traffic on the baht bus route is an issue in Pattaya no matter where your hotel is. Just try and get to South Pattaya from Naklua tomorrow night (24th) and then tell me different.
  22. The dollar is low today ....... god knows what the situation will be in a year's time. The problem for everyone isn't so much its current weakness but the recent volatility of the currency versus its previous long-term stability. Funnily enough, if Boeing had kept the 787 production entirely in-house in the USA they would now be able to sell an aircraft for around the same price as we pay for a new Mondeo. As for the Thai Baht ........ well, if the PPP prevails next month all bets are off as to which direction Thailand will be heading. IMHO, of course. (Just in case Joe is reading
  23. BigD, Can't remember questioning the number of trips you've made to Pattaya. As for military service (and associated photoshopped docs), it was you who questioned mine, not vice versa. Want a link? Anyway, we've played this game before. You lost and had to make a grovelling apology if I remember rightly. Now, if you want me to post links to, among others, your pattaya hotel owner, English teacher, Northshore investor, Pattaya retiree, Yugo owner fantasies and so on and so on then go ahead. Still dreaming/fantasising about your relocation? Next month, isn't it?? Anyway, back to kicking Euro butt. Any predictions on actual aircraft orders that will be achieved by Airbus and Boeing in 2007? I'll go with 1,200 plus for Boeing and 1,350 plus for Airbus.
  24. Jack, Why do you criticise the location of the RG on one hand and then praise the location of the other place ...... The RG is located less than 100 metres from 3rd Road so surely all the positives you mention would equally apply to the RG. The crossroads that angles to the right is 3rd Road ......... with all the benefits that you have already mentioned.
  25. It's taken you this long to realise? Appropriate though, don't you think?
