  1. Ha ha just pulled down Eva airflight prices from London to Bangkok for March, 09th March rtn June 08th over 1000 quid, about $1800 US, ya gotta be havin a laugh, Thai Airways doin the same trip for 544 quid, never looked at Eva Air before what a crock of shit
  2. OK here goes my investigation into the internet in Thailand..............Run away....... it suck........ they are so far behind the curve Right ow as I am writing this my MSN messenger is rejecting cntinuously. there is no fucking internet in Thailand. If ya want to do e-mail ok no problem, if ya think ya can work on the internet get a reality check, it SUCKS!!!!!!!!!
  3. Does anyone know of an actual Thai Airways office in Pattaya. I realise that travel agents can take care of most things but I am looking for an actual Thai Airways office, thnx
  4. Just a thought for backup, does anybody know where to buy internet cards for dialup connection?
  5. Just arrived LOS last night staying at Jontien Paradise Beach. In room satelite connection, couldn't connect last night but an 11 hr flight and a few Singha beer may have been the problem, connected this am ok and connection is fast so far, see how reliability goes over the next week or so.
  6. Dude your phone, if set up for international roaming would probably work fine there, however the cost would be extortionate, like a pound a minute, every call would be an international call. and if anybody in the UK were to phone you, you would also pick up the excess cost of their call above the standard rate. Text messaging, I don't know about charges but should also work. How long are you there for?
  7. You guys on the search for internet might also find this a help. http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showforum=17
  8. From what I can find out ADSL is available in Pattaya and therefore should be available anywhere around Pataya within a 5km radius of the exchange that provides it. Dialup or broadband here are some sites that may be of use http://www.inet.co.th/service/inetgold/ http://www.ksc.net/index.php http://www.pacific.net.th/default.asp http://www.cat.or.th/eng/telecom_internet_isp_eng.html
  9. Now that high season has just about got under way how are things shaping up tourist wise? Know it is probably a bit early to tell but the hotels will give a clue with their booking offers if the bookings are on the light side. Was in Patong in May and to say it was dead would have been an understatement of huge proportions, in 8 years I have never seen it so quiet. Will be in Pattaya in about 3 weeks and can't wait. Looking forward to checking out FLB for the first time.
  10. Un-fortunately Frammel, my research has not been intensive yet as it was simply an inquiry to the helpful guys on the forum prior to going out to LOS. I will however be in Thailand from early December and will begin my search in earnest, and will post any info I can find. So far all I have been able to ascertain is that dial-up is of varying reliability with the 1222 numbers getting a lot of thumbs down as being difficult to connect to. ADSL very expensine and I am not sure how widespread in Pattaya, and satellite well dodgy in the rain, probably things you already knew. Anyways as I say will
  11. Thanx Vox, that's helpful, hadn't come across this provider before, cable looks promising if it doesn't get taken out in the rainy season. Prefer ADSL but he carrier fee tacked on by the telephone company makes it a bit pricey. Thanx again
  12. Thanks Gabor, the Jontien Salellite connection may be worth a look, although my experience with anything satellite in Thailand is that in heavy rain it is rendered useless. I am aware of the internet cafe costs as I am a frequent visitor to Thailand, as I said I need access 8-9 hours a day weekdays, that is roughly 20 days a month or about 180 hrs so internet cafe would be cost prohibitive. Similarly dialup would be pricey and in any case not fast enough for what I require. Thanks anyway.
  13. I have some questions I hope people can help with. I have always enjoyed my visits to Thailand and would like to extend them to 2-3 mths at a time, however I would require access to broadband internet on a basis of as much as 8 hrs a day during the week. Obviously the only way I can see to acheive this would be to rent an appt and have it setup. 1) How widely available is broadband such as adsl to home users in Pattaya? 2) How reliable is it compared to Europe? 3) I have heard that where broadband is available it is very costly. Anyone have any experience to put an average cost on
