Just got back from 3 weeks in Pattaya. I have an unlocked Nokia 5100, I took my UK sim out and put in a 1-2-Call one and it worked fine. The 5100 is triband but I think any Euro dual band moby would be fine. My 1-2-Call sim with 300 baht of calls was only 500baht - absolute bargain. Top-ups are available anywhere, 7-11 staff are really helpful and will even do the top-up for you as the automated message is in rapid Thai anyway. Note it's far cheaper for you to receive calls from UK/backhome on a Thai mobile. I would just text the UK and tell them to give me a bell.

Anyone fancy sharing a taxi from BKK to Pattaya on Sunday 24 Oct. I get into BKK before 4pm but lord knows what time to collect luggage, clear customs, exchange some cash etc. I'm guessing that'll mean 16.30'ish would be a likely departure time.
