  1. There are a load of retires in the PI mainly ex US military...... however I would say..... best of luck ... if you are thinking of retiring there... I mean it. Had a house there for about 4 years, prior to deciding to give it all up and move to LOS... PI.. never again. It's great for a week or so max. Anymore and you are fooling yourself. Look why not take all your cash out the bank now and just fire to it now... because that's what it will feel like when you move there. Plus take loads of medication for high blood pressure, as anything which takes 2mins to do in LOS... like say
  2. Cheers Martin, I thought it was just me when i trying to upload my trip report with all the pic's
  3. That's the same route I used to do when I lived in edinburgh.... try Eva or China also via amsterdam, infact they still use the old B747 with Eva out of Amsterdam, which has better seats in Economy delux. Also do you know that Emirates fly out of Glasgow, that can also save time.
  4. Oh when does that take into affect, as i am on that route this Saturday 12th, Pearl class also. But my ticket says 09:55 departure from Abu Dhabi. What is with manchester next weekend, trying to get a flight down from aberdeen inorder to catch that Etihad flight and everything is fuck'n expensive
  5. Are you guy's sure you can combine Star alliance airline points. I have points with Singpaore AL and Varig, however I am gold with BMI, as far as I knew you could not combine, any idea how you go about combining the miles?... would really appreciate it. Last year I combined my Air france and KLM miles together in their 'Flying Blue' programme, which was no problem, however like I say, never knew you could do it with Star Alliance points. Want to try and use some of my damm Varig points before they go totally bankrupt
  6. Think Blair was trying to cap all Pensions if you lived outside the UK. Then some pensioners took the Labour goverment to court as it breached all EU laws. That's why if you retire and live within the EU now, your Pension will be index linked and increase as and when it increases in the UK. Not sure about Canada and other dominions. If the goverment can get away paying you less they will... the bastards
  7. Used to stay in the Bangkok one all the time before I bought a place in LOS, now I would say the rooms are looking very worn and some more than others. Still a great hotel for location, food is also great, however now i would rather stay in one of the newer ones in that area. In terms of pattaya, it is brilliantly located, never stauyed in the pattaya one, as i was always a Sandy spring man, same road as Dynasty.
  8. I am not sure about Thai, they seem to be going backwards in regards to customer comfort and general marketing. Two friends who just flew Thai to manila, were informed at the airport that their luggage allowance in economy was only 15kg. This has just been implemented apparently, their ticket was also 1500 baht more expensive to PAL, and more to another airline they told me about. They had bought their ticket in PI, however had no problems on the way out. Their aircraft haven't really been upgarded in ages. Most business class seats on nearly all airlines are way more superiour to Thai
  9. You couldn't have picked a better place to change planes. If I am ever in Amsterdam for say more than 3 hours, I hope on to a train.... you are in Amsterdam central in 20mins.... pop down to the red light district for a quickie, and if I have enough time.... usually go for a proper massage in the China town area, just adjacent the Red light area. Amsterdam... proabably the best place in the world to change planes through, fuck London or Paris, they are both nightmares.
