  1. Melatonin is the chemical in the brain that causes drowsiness and plays a big part in your sleeping cycles. With more of this in your system you get drowsy and can go to sleep. You could therefore use it to artificially adjust your circadian cycle to match a different timezone. But as you imply, you are going to be awake at some pretty funny hours anyway in Pattaya and Las Vegas. In light of this, you could also use 5-HTP, which I might give a shot on the trip over. 5-HTP breaks down into 5-HT (serotonin) which then breaks down into melatonin. Big dose of 5-HTP, you will get drowsy
  2. I'm in a similar situation but I've only booked for 32 days. Since I am going to visit Cambodia as well I will try to get by on the 30 day visas. Before I go though I am going to book my ticket from Bangkok to Phnom Phen and also get an e-visa for Cambodia as well. Then if I do have any problems I can show them exactly what I am doing. However, I live in a fairly remote area of Australia, a long way from the nearest Thai consulate or embassy. If I was closer I would just get a 60 day visa, but it is too much hassle.
