You could try the 9 Karat condo on soi arunthi , google it, thats around 10000 a month plus the utilities . both places have pools but the 9 karat has a giant pool thats great for laps.

Some go for 5000 a month or even less if you want a thai style no AC room . or the sky's the limit if you want luxury. reasonable cheap rooms start at around 10000 baht a month and go up from there.

Residence Garden or Nova Park were always my choice but that is a long time ago. Used to get a monthly deal inclusive of utilities and cleaning.
Give us a few ideas like what are you looking for, location and expected price range.

thai style is ok. would be nice if I could just have a/c. but I can do without it. traditional thai bathroom is ok. I'm pretty adaptable. As long as the place is safe and sanitary.

Please let me share some light on the waitress being on you. I had to go thru that cultural learning curve too. They are waiting not to rush you but to be there when your ready to order so you won't have to wait or track them down. Once I learned that I felt much less pressure and learned to take my time. of course if I am being rush Ill ask what the hurry is, or simply get up and leave.

It seems I didn't make my self clear. What I meant to say is the place is still the same now as when it first opened. It hasn't changed. This is based on a recent visit.

The way i remember when the place first opened. There was only one other customer in there. And the damned waitress didn't utter a word until i called her on it and asked her if her throat hurts when she speaks. When your paying a ridiculous 40 baht for a meal, sure, you live with it or maybe even expect but that's not the case here.
i would appreciate any shared thoughts on what your guys think of such service when it happens. Do you ignore it or does it annoy you? Thanks

I dont know the name cause its a traditional Thai Place. looks alot like the place on S Pattaya Rd on your left when your leaving WS for the baht bus on 2nd rd.. Its on the 3rd Road end of soi Chaiyapoon (soi 25, 3rd rd.) on the corner of both. Look for the Man Club sx up high.
It has some good sea food choices running around 60 and 80 baht. Certainly if you want to go expensive they have those selections too.
My suggestion is if you want to go for some good priced seafood, don't take your Thai squezze who well squezze you they way they often do. Go alone or with friends and you'll come out good.

I believe that was me. Pretty simple. Pick your self up a good steel tool box that takes a pad lock. You can fill it with stuff when packing so your not out the luggage space. Get one of those bike cables that's loops on both ends. Choke it (putting one loop thru the other) around your toilet or sink drain pipe. Now hide it. Need e you can throw some laundry over it to cover it up. I don't think to many of them are gone to go thru your laundry on the bathroom floor looking for valuables. If you don't have any laundry fake it with a few t shirts or something. I always include a pair of underwear to give it the growdy effect and keep them away from it. But even if they do find it, unless they are a locksmith or carry a pipe wrench with them, it won't really matter much. Another advantage is that when you come back to your room you can excuse your self to the bathroom and circumvent that awkward moment of showing you don't trust them. Another good thing is that believe me, not all these hotels practice good key control on those safes. They all have bypass keys. Hope that helps. Any questions, e mail me.

Your probably better off using an atm card to get money from your home bank and than just depositing it. I did a topic on the US ones that don't charge a foreign fee a while back ad some well even reimburse you the fee from the Thai bank. The best ones are usually from the broker accounts like Ameritrade.

I would appreciate advise on what I should do about acquiring a phone only to be used in Pattaya or Thailand at least.

I've had fairly good luck with the Pimsluer series. You can download the lessons to your ipad, phone, ect and use it on the go. ebay is one place you can fine it. They also have their own site. I got the beginning lessons from my library for free, Rosetta Stone also seems popular though I only had first hand experience with the former.

With all the political unrest, I thought for sure it would weaken the baht some. Does anyone have any insight why it still remains fairly strong?

Actually PatPong is a fun, interesting place that gets bad mouthed a lot, though I'm not sure why. Certainly you have to be aware of the scum that tries to rob you with the upstairs extortion venues. Aside from that, there's a lot to see and do. Its pretty fascinating the way the night market emerges with the night life. Provides lots of eye candy from both angles.
