  1. I stopped at the Saengchan Kitchen in its new location as discussed above.

To verify that this was indeed the restaurant that used to be directly across Soi Lucky Star from Marine Seafood, I asked the waiter if they used to be "over there". He said yes...

The menu is identical to the one used by the old location, and if this woman doesn't look familiar, you weren't eating there enough :P

As usual, the missus ordered hoi nang lom, served exactly as before...I ate these frequently at both Marine Seafood and Saengchan kitchen.

I ordered fried pork with garlic (moo tawt)...it was okay, but nothing to write home about.

Did the wife comment on the hoi nang lom?

  2. There's a few establishments in boyztown which serve ginger beer(s).

Seriously though, I used to make my own Ginger Beer and Sloe gin, until once while I was picking sloe berries a bloke came along and asked if he could suck my cock. I had no idea I'd stumbled upon a "gay" haunt, and before anyone says it, it is my story and I'm bloody sticking to it!.

Good crop of sloes this year apparently. I might even take a few orders for Butch's home made Sloe gin if anyone is interested.

    LOL

  3. An episode from this series is being shown tonight (1 September 9:00pm) on Pick TV, UK Freeview Channel 11.

So any cheapskates (like myself) who don’t have Sky TV can see:

Episode 4 “An exploration of the ladyboy shows in Pattaya, a once sleepy Thai fishing village that is now the ladyboy capital of the world. Plus, a behind-the-scenes look at the running of Alcazar, a popular transgender cabaret venue, to which acts flock in search of fame and fortune.”

Personally, I think ladyboys can leave a nasty taste in the mouth.

just thought i'd say thanks. i saw your post about 10 mins before it started so had a watch. nothing new in it. bloke from NE articulates well. I did laugh at his photoshop penis comment, though. Something like he sometimes imagines his LBs cock has been photoshopped on. Er no and it can't be PS'd off either(:

Lecturer i suspect is an emotional wreck - falling love after a few days? and his way to identify LB's made me laugh. he was pointing out features as they walked past [adam's apple etc] and missed the fact that they were mostly tall and manly.

I take it this will be on same time same channel each week? [i rarely watch tv]

[[edit to change the word dame, in line above, to same!!!!]]

  4. I am well aware of what I consider the myth of the rude Parisian (Parisienne refers to females only - if you are referring to women only, I actually found them extremely helpful).

There may be some truth to it, but I have been going there since the 1980s and have not run into any issues. And English is my only working language. I was putting forward the theory that some English and American accents are so thick that they are incomprehensible. I know of some Angelenos who would run away from such an accent! And there is also the possibility that it is not English that is putting off some French folks, but the English. And then there is the fact that some people have trouble wherever they are.

As to comparing CDG to LAX, the point was that LAX is not crap as a functional airport. It can get messed up sometimes due to construction, it presents a tired image, it does not have flashy stores lining the walkways. But it moves 60-odd million people every year about as efficiently as a huge modern airport can, and provides most necessities that travellers need. Maybe I have low expectations, but I did not find CDG so terrible.

However, I will defer to people who had not-so-good experiences there - they undoubtedly suffered, and I sympathize with them.

It's not accent it's just them being French. The bloke they ran from has an RP accent. Not that they'd know as they were locked behind closed doors before his lips moved (: I doubt they can tell regional accents either although they probably know American from British. Regardless, they're being paid to do a job.

  5. Flying Dublin to BKK via Charles De Gaulle. Have 2 hour layover which should be plenty but have heard lots of bad stories about CDG. Have to get from terminal 2E to 2F. Anyone have experience of this?.

Air France/CDG are on my never fly with/to again list due to their attitude when me and GF got stranded there on way back to LON from BKK due to fog. Shite airport. Cold in winter. It was freezing in fact. They refused to give updates on when flight to LON would be [if ever]. The Air France staff actually RAN AWAY [i'm not exaggerating they actually ran like it was a kid's joke] when an English guy on my flight went to talk to them. They ALL ran and locked themselves in behind a staff only door. Elsewhere in CDG, my GF spoke non standard French and they wanted nothing to do with it. They could all speak English but preferred me struggling in my 1970's schoolboy french. It was the ignorance of running away and deliberate offensiveness that made me say never again.

  6. good review (:

I've a question for BMs - asked before but no one knew. There used to be 2 bars in there - Sailor Bar and another next door to it. SB then took over the whole floor space. Anyone remember the other bar's name? They'd have girls dancing on the bar top - revolutionary, maybe, in 1995-ish and blasted the music far too loud too compete with SB.

  7. Yes, he sure is. Responds to comments and does his best to fix problems saspo. There are pages and pages of favourable comments on other boards also.

Not being a Walking St. fan I love staying in this region. Not only a very comfortable place but I love being in that area. Just so good to be close to LK Metro/ Dianne/ those great Sois with laundry, haircut, bars and restaurants between 2nd and 3rd Roads. It has a great atmosphere around there.

I booked a couple of months ago for arrival 30 October for three weeks. You have to book early.

I always have a couple of (good) meals in the Chinese restaurant.

Next door you have one of the best Ribs and a fair Fish and Chips shop (Neither of these are Ian's now). Cherries and the golf club nearby, plus many local choices for breakfast.

    Can't wait to get back.

report back on the roach situation papadoc

  8. Well from what we have gathered the banks are duty bound to keep a record of such transactions should the situation arise at some time in the future that the giver of the cheque should decease and his estate become liable for inheritance tax.

Any such gifts made in the seven years prior to his or her death will be taken into account and will form part of the deceased's estate.

So what they can't nick from you when you're alive they'll make sure they get when you're dead. However the family can receive some consolation from the fact that their parents' thrifty nature has helped fund the Indian Space Program, their nuclear weapons capability and starving children in Pakistan.

"Under plans unveiled by David Cameron, Pakistan will get upto £446m of taxpayers cash by 2014" Reported in many UK papers yesterday. For education and health.

  9. i had one removed last year. awkward place - left of my spine. kept snagging it. thought I'd try the youtube tie some thread round the base method which her indoors claimed her mother had used before. All it did was bleed and get infected and ruin some shirts. So, off to clinic to have it removed [uK not Thailand]. 20 min job, all in. Needle into surrounding skin to anesthetize. Then they scalpel it off. And causterise with laser. said there'd be a burn mark forever. it's a small albeit noticeable mark. Nothing major.

edit - oh and they're not caused by fat. or dirt as some people seem to think.

  10. You see, even Jacko can still remember the two single beds being pushed together. They would seperate and you'd end up in a heap in the middle. Anybody who doubts my 'cred' needs to doubt Jacko and Fatboyfat's cred also. You could also simply ask lb the Owner, he isn't a Liar either.

I do remember a post years ago about someone falling through the 2 singles pushed together and doing their knee in spoiling their holiday. I myself almost fell foul of this. Having a shag first night I went to climb on and put my arm thru the bed gap. managed to stop myself hitting the deck. seem to recall they'd put a double sheet over 2 singles. I'd never had that in my other rooms there. a recipe for disaster in an otherwise very well run hotel [although I did have the mini bar scam tried on me once]

  11. I've stayed there 2 separate occasions. 2 diff rooms. last time was 3.5 yrs ago mind and you know how things can change . so bear that in mind. i like the place. just typical room. first fl. medium size facing buakhao, big fridge, tiled floor, bed with solid mattress, average sized shower room, hot water, good water pressure, cleaned every day, buddha art on walls, big vase/fake flowers in corner. okay. air con worked well, room safe. small though, TV cant remember channels. basically an average room well looked after.

decent location. nice bar downstairs, staff dont bat eyelid at bringing bg in although you WILL have to walk thru the usually crowed bar. i walked me 8.5 month beach rd bg thru with some looks from custs but not staff.

spent 1 night in a diff room. i was just back from isaan and checkin out next morn. arrived late. i guess they gave you the worst room. same size but less airy and facing a wall that blocked light, older shower [but with better pressure and hotter water].

Tomcat chk it out anyway if u can. see if the rooms on 1st floor look ok [that's english first floor, american second?], be careful goig up steepish and narrow stairs.

  12. i remember when there was not many farang down there. there was no reason to go as such.

no budget hotels, no gog gos etc. in fact there was one big reason to go - a lot of bg's lived in cheap accom there. but no one went for that. unless their bg took them.

that's how i ended up down there. and the night market.

basically no one went there hardly.

now you've reasonably priced accom, lots of food choices, walking distance to bars.

i like the food carts that set up at night around buakhao and diana. bird curry i had last time. with veg and rice. real chaep but delicious.

there's all you could want there.

one of my ex's sister/bro in law lived down there and they'd be surprised by the changes.
