  1. As "Proof of Address" anything that is send to you by mail is acceptable. Can be bank statement, electrical, phone bill - even a copy of an magazine, as long as it has your name and your stated address on it. Your Thai driving license is also perfect. Nowadays Pattaya requires copies of Passport, visa, entry and address document. Easy quick step, usually takes 5 to 10 minutes depending on que. Time at counter per person about 4 minutes. Two officials process two people in 5 mintues cycles. (At 16h45 in afternoon they take 2 minutes per person). They staple a new tear-off from your TM-47 application in your passport which stated your next deadline for report. You can report anything form 7 days before up to 7th day after that day with no penalty guaranteed. Mostly even later than 7 days does not get 'fined'. Next 90 day is 90 days after your repor; thus if you report every 95th day - after 6 reports you would have 'gained' one 30 day month; same if you report 5 days before deadline, you loose because next report is 90 days after that report. The 90 day report is not linked to you visa - only to you last report date. Their stamps are set in the morning and never changed for whatever reason your reporting might be earlier or later - your stamp will be for 90 days later. At present my visa expires 15 Jan 2011, my next 90 day report is 6 February 2011. Besides your travel cost to the office and drink if the que is very long - no charge at all.
  2. If you have a legal operating business in Thailand and first Non-B visa & WorkPermit. Then live becomes much easier. You do not need to get anything from outside. I have not been out from Thailand since 2007 on my last business trip. Every year, about one month before visa expires I present business documents with renewal application - and get anther one year extension; no travel. I think the fees to pay is something like Tb 2,000 (Vary province to province).
  3. Correction: Update on Self drive boats: I actually made the efforts yesterday to go talk to Marine Police and get latest updates. In light of two accidents last year: ANY drive of ANY water vessel powered by an engine is required to have: A) THAI skippers license Boat must have 3rd party insurance. In fact (I pressed this issue strongly) it also means you need a license to even drive a Jet-Ski !!! However the Pattaya Marine Police choose to overlook this for beach rentals; provided the rental period does not exceed one hour and a slip as proof is presented. It also means ANY Sailing yacht with a motor needs a skipper license! Only remaining without license is pure sail boat, no engine of size less than 40 feet. If you have a skipper license from your home country, with International Claret – you can apply for a short term license from the Bangkok Marine Police. Procedure takes about two days!
  4. Yes, it is now possible. Currently - but due to change TiT! If you are the registerd owner, you can drive any private boat/yacht using any skippers license. 0-60ft = No need to have Thai skipper on board. Between 60 and 100 ft is gray zone. Above 100ft you need Thai licensed skipper on board. To get Thai boat licence is very simple procedure and cost about Tb 12,000 all incl. Valid 5 years. We can asist you. If you have an international valid skipper licence, not your own boat i.e. rental - up to 40ft speed boat. You must have Thai licensed skipper on board. Without international skippers licence - up to 24ft with maximum of 8 PAX capability, only inshore (less than 3km form beach) However if you have an insident you will be considered guilty party. For any vessel capable of carry four or less people - i.e boat, jetski, etc. No requirements from you. Person renting to you is responsible for and must have: Insurance and registration. Bakricono.com is now renting small boats with/without captain. Without captian - Photos are taken before you take boat. Inspected and signed by you to validate prior damages. With captain - damages is our problem. We also have a lsrger 38ft PowerCat available - with captain for day rent, private trips.
