  1. I am now staying at the Whitehouse Condotel Just a heads up for the members.. I had the good fortune of finding two friends last night.. but....This hotel charges a jointer fee of 500 thb for a 2nd guest. To me.. this is NOT a guest friendly hotel. I was told it used to be 800 thb guest fee but the price was reduced. I do not know who the owners are.. but they need to get a clue. The hotel is far from full (yes I know it is the low season).. but perhaps this is one of the reasons. The hotel itself is good... but for the prince and the guest policy... I will never stay there
  2. I stayed at the Lord Nelson.... I did a hotel review. OK hotel... I rated it as a 7 but that could have been on the high side. It is an OK place but nothing fantastic. The Soi 6 location was fine but I would rather stay elsewhere and visit Soi 6 late after noons or early evenings. I am looking for a different hotel for my next visit.
  3. Hi I have about 70K frequent flyer miles on Nortwest ... I tried to use my frequent flyer miles for a free trip to BBK from Seattle. The required amount "with restrictions" is 60K miles. When I try to find a ticket.... the minimum milleage I can find is double that or 120K miles. I called NWA and they said the same thing. It seems they only offer just a few at the 60K price. The operator said she never knows when they become available and just pop up from time to time. As soon as they become available, they get taken. What a rip off! Since they offer so few at the lesser mileag
  4. I usually fly EVA from Seattle. The web site is pretty good.. but sometimes hit or miss on getting the best price. If you vary the travel by one day the price can raise or fall by 200 or more. I have always flown Deluxe... very nice. The service seems fine to me. One of the best features.. it gets in just before Noon and leaves noon to 3 PM. NWA gets in just before Midnight and leaves very early in the morning. For that reason alone I prefer EVA. Also, EVA seems to have the shortest total flight time to BBK. China Air has a longer delay when you switch planes. I usually check Travol
  5. Hi.. I stayed at the Lord Nelson ( the Q Vic was full)... just an OK hotel. The bathroom was not very good.... They did check ID's... there is a secruity guard checking them at the back. They did not open the bar until later in the morning. Staying on Soi 6 was no real advantage.... so many ST rooms there so there is no need for a hotel on that street. It is an OK value for the price but nothing special. I will be staying at a different hotel on my next visit.
  6. I saw a post where someone flew into Singapore.. then took a low cost discount airline from Singapore to LOS... I am leaving from Seattle and cant seem to find a great deal. If gas prices stay up, then airline prices may also rise even more. That would ruin my fun! Has anyone tried to get a deal into a non LOS city and then take a cheap discount airline to LOS? I wonder if it is worth the time or effort. But.. since I have to switch planes anyway (Japan for NWA and Tapaie for EVA)... what the heck. Maby this will save some money and get me there about the same time? Any thoughts
  7. Thanks Guys for the info.... I was excited to find EVA... but not it looks like I should try other airlines.
  8. Wow! I usually take that flight as well.. Pretty scarey.... perhaps he was in the hong nam? or sleeping! Only one person in a control tower is not very smart.
  9. Hi I usually fly EVA Deluxe from Seattle to LOS, but their prices seem to jump around a lot. I have paid from $800 to 1300 us dollars. I just checked and the best I could find now was $2000. I guess I may have to fly economy or try another airline. I am looking at travel dates in mid July. I hate the thought of flying economy. I am not a huge guy but I want to get there fairly well rested. I was wondering what other airlines Fly to BBK with reasonable prices. I looks like China Air is an option for about $800 economy and $1200 for Business. I assume the business is worth the
  10. Hi.. I stayed there on my first visit to LOS (about 5 years ago). Some things that I remember.... The rate then was 400 thb. Ask for a room facing the front with a balcony. Just in case you want to sit outside. The pool looks good but I never used it. The rooms were OK... They pulled two twins together to make a double bed. I did not like that! The shower has the drain in the bathroom floor. They do check the GF ID and you leave the ID at the front desk. A safe is at the front desk. You buy a lock and you have the key. A good value for the price but I only stayed there o
  11. Hi Check out VoiceStick ... I do not have this service but on my last trip to LOS I did meet someone who stopped Vontage to go to VoiceStick. He was using VoiceStick at an internet cafe. Basicly.. you use a small USB drive (size of a cig lighter) which has the software loaded on it. Just plug it into a USB and use the small headphones provided.. and you have a phone at ANY decent Internet Cafe. Great if you are traveling around Thailand and still would like to call home. He thought the sound quality was excellent. One befefit is that it is very portable to any country in the world. Yo
  12. Video looks great... seems like a nice room A little audio would have been good! Make the GF say something! Thanks for the wave... a very nice touch.
  13. Hi I would agree with "Partyamimal" ..... If you have not been to Pattaya before.. you may just want a nice hotel for a short time... then you can move if needed. I have not stayed at the RG ... it looks like a great place. However, it is away from the action. This is not a problem after you find your way around but it may be at first. I also recommend you visit some other area like Phukett... Lots of fun there too and good for a change of pace. You may want to take a trip with a GF or just see someplace else. Airplane flights are not very expensive to many places. The best a
  14. Hi.. I have stayed at the Inn house... will not stay there again. Rooms small but OK. My complaint... I took two ladies back during the day... I got a hassel from the desk about that. I will not stay there again. I was not planning two ladies either but things do happen. I would find someplace else since the hotel is nothing special anyway.
  15. Hi.. thanks for the ideas... I will look into some of those hotels. I guess I do not need to stay near sukhumvit... just that I am used to that area! But.. I do want to stay away from the P4P areas. Thanks again!
  16. Hi.. I will soon be arriving in Bangkok Usually I come alone... so no problem picking a hotel. However, this time I will be meeting a GF who is NOT into the bar scene. Any recommended hotels on Sukomvitt (to be near sky train). It seems most places are very expensive or not very nice. I searched the reviews but that did not help. For budget.. how about 2000 - 3000 thb range. Something nice but not too expensive. I dont care about pool or other things. Just one nice double bed! Any thoughts? thanks
  17. Hi I have stayed at the Honey Lodge several times.... 500 thb a night. It is located across from the Bamboo Bar just by the entrace to Walking street. Rooms are small but OK. They seem to be kinda musty sometimes. So if you use the towel and expect it to be dry in the morning or later it probably will not be dry. There is no seperate shower... just a drain in the bathroom. (dont get the tolet paper wet!) If you get a room.... ask for the 3rd floor. They seem to be larger rooms or just nicer for some reason. They are very guest friendly and do not take ID's. The key activates t
  18. I like Soi 7/8.... don't mis-understand... But I am curious how it is to have a hotel on that Soi when you walk in with a different GF all the time. I would like to change hotels but have always passed up these Soi's for that reason. Should I be concerned? If I started to BF from that Soi it would get even worse! Has that been a problem?
  19. Hi.... Yes.. I stayed at Skaw Beach on my first visit to LOS (a few years ago). The rooms are very nice and large. The price was only about 400 THB. They also have a nice pool but I did not have time for a swim. They ask your GF for ID at the front desk but are guest friendly. Safe's are at the front desk. I think you need to provide a lock (or buy one from them). The AC was cold. In my room, they took two beds and pushed them together to make a large bed. That was the only thing I did not like. The bathroom had the shower drain in the floor and no bathtub. The location is not bad
