Displayed prices are for multiple nights. Check the site for price per night. I see hostels starting at 200b/day and hotels from 500b/day on agoda.

Ambassador Royal Suites Bangkok
wally_world replied to wally_world's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
Guys, Thanks for you responses. I’m now leaning towards the President Solitaire suites although it’s an extra $20 per night. I’ve read a couple of things about this place, most were positive and the 42” plasma screen TV will be nice. If anyone has anything additional information about either hotel please let me know. WW -

Emil, I checked my UA ticket and I am booked in Q class which doesn’t qualify for the double miles. UA is also running a double EQM promotion where they are giving double mileage toward elite status for 2004 for roughly the same time period. The miles only count toward elite status and can’t be used for travel. Getting the double miles for my next trip will move me up from Premier to Premier Executive which earns double miles for UA/Star Alliance flights in 2004. Both offers say that they are combinable so it may be possible to double dip, I’m not sure. The cost to enroll is $100 and

I’m planning to spend the first week of my trip in BKK before heading to PTY. I was wondering if any of the boardies have stayed at the Ambassador Royal Suite. It’s located next to the Ambassador Hotel. I’ve found many reports on the hotel but none on the suites. The location seems good, the price seems reasonable for a 1 bedroom and since it is a serviced apartment I think that it should be guest friendly. I haven’t spent much time in BKK so any info that you can provide is appreciated. WW

Partyanimal, I forgot to mention the service at the Welkome Inn (WI), you are right about the service at the patio bar and the internet café. The guy who runs the place (I believe he is Belgian) was quite a character with a real dry sense of humor but he was also very accommodating. The staff made you feel quite welcome especially the cute ladies bartenders at the outdoor bar. The last week of my trip I had booked a room next door at the Sabai Inn. Although I was staying next door I still had my daily couple of afternoon beers over at the WI patio. If my memory serves me correctly th

I agree with Marc. Clean basic rooms, the AC worked well and was easy to control and the wall mounted fans were a nice touch. I stayed in a pool side room that seemed to be recently renovated with new prefab paneled walls and a ceramic tile floor. The food in the restaurant at the Soi 2 entrance was good although a little pricey. The patio bar at the Soi 3 entrance was a nice place to spend the early afternoon hours. There is also onsite “entertainment” in the indoor bar next to the patio. As was mentioned there’s a lot to do in the immediate area to include a short walk to any of the 3 S

Apartments/cheaper hotel for extended stay
wally_world replied to Crelus's topic in Hotel and Accommodation Questions
I found a link for the Nong Apartments on the pattayatrader.com web page under the advertising section. The prices seem reasonable (ground floor apartment @ 900 baht/nigh & 1200 baht/2 weeks). Any boardies with Nong Apartment experiences? -
Shilo, Have you checked the post by Abacus in FLB videos Pattaya City FLB Song? If you need to upgrade you windows media player (wmp) the easiest way is to click on the help pull down menu and select check for media player upgrade. From there just follow directions. I was told by a friend that the codec should load with the new player. Hopefully this is the fix you need. I am using wmp 9 on my desktop but after reading your post I plugged the wireless network card into my notebook and watched the video using wmp 7 on the notebook with good results. I am using Windows 2000 on both
