Recently stayed at the Bella Vista, next door to the Pig & Whistle, on the little road between sois 7 & 8. Hotel was great but after 1am it became almost impossible to sleep due to the thud of the music, from the disco on soi 8, which didn't cease until after 4am. I don't know if it affected all rooms but presumably is an issue for a number of hotels in the soi 7 & 8 area. Tried staying up 'til 4am but after a few nights gave up and moved hotel. JT

Glad Fra Pattaya, on South Pattaya Rd about 50 yards from Beech Rd, has been mentioned as it is my favourite Thai Restaraunt. Rather basic seating and decor, no air con but great Thai food. If you want something cheap and Western then I can recomend the steak at Tops Supermarket food court on the corner of 2nd Rd and Pattaya Klang(Central Rd). Steak with sauce, ajacket potato, side salad and garlic bread (OK a slice of toast with garlic butter) for just over 100 baht
