  1. Sunview was a bargain at one time but now they want 800B to 1500B per night and copy of your passport to book.
  2. I used both from the States and I never had any problems. They both use B747-400 and have beautiful flight attendants, unlike fat, ugly American flight attendants with attitude from UA, AA or NWA.
  3. Using ignorance isn't going to get you anywhere. For the rest of readers, try both places and make up your own mine. Pattaya International Hospital (PIH) is for tourists. The reason why tourists and inexpereinced expats go there is because of the convenience of location (2nd road, Soi 4) and "it looks nice" as one member told me. The hospital looks nice and clean but PIH is not certified like Bangkok Pattaya Hospital. For the most part, PIH provide healthcare for "healthy sick patients" and if the patients becomes really sick, they just transfer them to real hositals like BPH. Have you ever wondered why PIH is located in tourist area and why Thais don't go there? Bangkok Pattaya Hospital (BPH) is certified and is considered as one of the best in the region. Most experienced expats and Thais go there to get good quality healthcare. The only thing that I don't like it about is the costs are rising and tend to charge farangs higher than the Thais (of course). Try web search for both hospitals and/or try both hospitals and find out for yourselves. I did and I standby what I said.
  4. Pattaya International Hospital is not a quaility hospital. It was meant for TOURIST with high fees. Local Thais don't go there, only foolish foreign tourists does. That is the reason why BUPA will not accept them because they try to overcharge patients and insurance companies. PIH is for profit and they always advertise on tourist magazines to attract the fools. Try Bangkok Pataya Hospital for quality care, however, their prices are expensive but not as bad as PIH.
  5. Gary is still the boss but he rarely is there. That's why it's boring place to drink. Cashiers runs the place. Place is getting worst. I think he's going to dump the place once his lease expires. I don't know why he has that dump anyway. Mike Post who sold the lease to him several years ago told me that he has the bar because he has no friends so he bought the lease so he can have "friends" come and visit him. Mike Post is a conman, paedophile and a low-life so becareful.
  6. Best pensions are definately from the government(city, county, state, military or federal). If they run out of money, they just raise taxes from the people. Various studies showed that government pensions and benefits are far better than private sector. If you look at the most well-off pentioners in Pattaya are government retirees. Also this applied to people on disability. In fact, all 8 expats that I know is receiving disability are former government workers. This goes to show everyone, work for the government and enjoy your retirement or disability.
  7. Thanks you all for your inputs. It appears working another 5 years until 49 then retire makes the most sense. By that time I should be able to save another $60K per year for the total of $300K. Plus the interests and dividends I'll be getting on my investments. I should have close to $400K at 49 to live on and $800K+ in my retirement accounts at 60. Plus another 5 years of credit on my SS account. And I'm still young enough to enjoy my retirement. I guess I knew all this but I needed to hear it from others. For your info., if I stay until 55, my pension increases to $1500+/month at 55, $3000+/month at 60, and $4800+/month at 65. But I have no intention to work this late, although vast majority of all other Americans do so and/or have no choice. Meanwhile, I'll stick it out and take my 6 weeks of vacation per year in Thailand.
  8. I'm thinking about early retirement. I'm 44 years old and I have around $400,000 altogether. $200,000 in retirement accounts and $200,000 in cash. If I stay another 5 years with my company, I'll receive $1200 a month in pension for life with COLA when I turn 60 but the problem is I hate my job and my boring life in the states. I'm in excellent health with no debt. I should also get Social Security at 62 with another $1200 per month, if SS still exists. My question is should I quit and move to Pattaya or should I stick it out and suffer for another 5 years then retire at 49?
  9. I'm going over to Pattaya in 2 weeks. Does anyone know of good decent hotel for 650B per day. I'm staying for 3 weeks. I was told to check out Champ Pattaya Hotel. Does anyone know about this hotel and hotel number? Any info is appreciated.
