But I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned the all-day breakfasts at the Continental Bakery: excellent and well-priced. If you come down Thepprasit from Sukhumvit and turn left into Thappraya it's some 50 yards down on the left.

Many thanks to all of you for your useful replies. At the end of the day, crab did what crab so often does: scrapped his budget in favour of what he really liked or wanted. So next week I move into View Talay 2, not because I love VT2 but because I was offered an excellent apartment at a reasonable price, and it gives me the space ad facilities I want. So, very soon I shall be local. Hope to meet some of you.

I am looking for a house or apartment to rent in or near Pattaya, ideally 3 bedrooms, monthly rent c. 10,000 to 15,000 baht range. Dark Side seems to be the most likely area to find this. Anyone have any ideas or know of any specific opportunities?

Anyone know a decent place in Phuket?
