  20. my personal opinion of the current situation in Cambodia, especially taking “fun” tourism into consideration A quick word in advance about my personal opinion of the current situation in Cambodia, especially taking “fun” tourism into consideration. Such as in my last report (probably the last) about this country – “Down in Cambodia” – It’s about Phnom Penh, Sihanouk Ville, Siem Reap and finally the general situation. Apart from that, this thread will be about photos. Phnom Penh: My opinion is, nobody needs to go to Phnom Penh just for the girls. Those who want to take a look at the town and get a sniff of the climate will surely be able to have a bit of “fun” on the side. However, Phnom Penh can’t be compared at all with places such as Pattaya in Thailand or Angeles City in the Philippines. Also, the charm and special flair of the “old” PNH has disappeared; bad customs and a rip-off mentality are spreading rapidly. The good old filthy bars such as Sophies or Mikado don’t exist any more, the only slight rays of light are the Cyrcee, but they don’t have their own rooms any more, one has to go across to some dump of a hotel, and, the Martini, but in comparison with earlier days this place is dreary with incompetent personnel and high prices. Nowadays there are loads of bars down by the riverside and surrounding area; however, all of them are extremely boring with old women, who are hopeless and expensive as well. All the bars are the same. If a young good looking tart happens to be there she presses her legs together squealing as soon as you touch her shoulder with the tip of your finger. Quite often they won’t even go along with you. Price – short time approx. 30 plus 5 Dollars barfine (roughly). It’s difficult to find one who can do a decent blow job; a shot in the gob is a problem. Even the older women are wide eyed when faced with this question! Freelancers down by the river, unfuckably old and ugly. Similar to Beach Road in Patty in the lower category. Discos with techno and bored faces. The girls have simply had enough, that’s the problem. Too many sponsors, idiots, “payforeverythings”. If you see a good looking tart she has a moped, an expensive smart phone and a young Khmer “screwer” as a pillion passenger. If one has a bit more time it may be possible to get off with a Khmer, but it’s the same all over. For example, down the skater course, in the shopping centre or somewhere out on the street. If you’re a 14 day tourist, forget it. If you’re lucky there may be a nice one from the Cyrcee or a freelancer during the afternoon from Wat Phnom. Massages down the 63: many have shut down, was never my thing anyway, those days they used to be more of a rip-off and uncomfortable than fun anyway. No Viets these days really, if there are any then down the Martini, a few seem to be leftovers from the K11/Svay Pak, they look like it too. Sihanouk Ville: Bottom line Sihanouk Ville: Nothing much at all. The best news is that you can get your end away down the harbour for a fiver. Not top models, but then again, the feeling’s important. But in general it’s not really worth going there to get your end away. The Blue Mountain has shut down. KTV and Karaoke bars with their usual extortionate prices. Boring discos, during the night down the Ochheuteal/Serendipity beach one or two bars with a few freelancers and a load of pissed up back packers. Down Victory Hill, only Alcoholics who drink until they drop, drug pushers and pot smokers, ripping off bitches and a few ladyboys. The place really has gone down the drain. Siem Reap: My personal opinion of Siem Reap as far as a “fun” tourist is concerned: simply dreadful, that’s to put it in a word. Completely dead. No massages any more, NGOs have all shut down, there is only one bar in the town where about 10 – 15 freelancers hang about – that’s it. Keep your expectations, of somehow shooting your load, down when visiting this place. KTV, Karaoke and discos are events for the stupid. No sight of freelancers or fun in the (BTW, often very bad) massages. Take a look at the temples if you like that sort of thing, they really are sensational. An excursion on the lake (don’t have to). If you have no interest at all in things like that, you’d best completely avoid the place. My final opinion on Cambodia: The question is, why visit Cambodia at all? OK, the Angkor temple is a sensation, but that’s something special. Anyone reading this travel report reads it for other reasons. From a “fun” point of view. Cambodia can be completely forgotten, Thailand and the Phils are “just round the corner” and offer that what we are looking for, uncomplicated gut sex with nice girls. I don’t even want to compare the countries because it would be a complete waste of time. The infrastructure: Cambodia is a third world country with disadvantages such as being dirty and a high crime rate. In addition to this the prices have risen and things are completely overpriced almost wherever you look. The food isn’t a reason to visit this country either, nor are the beaches. In short, everything can be had better, cheaper and simpler elsewhere. There is nothing at all going for this country if you’re single, in fact, everything is against visiting. I’m sorry not to be able to provide better news; then again, lying about it is no use to anyone. Exactly the opposite really, lying would only cause disappointment. In telling the truth one or the other of you will now stay away – meaning the report has served its purpose by preventing those who stay away from having sullen faces and being disappointed. Of course a lot of it is subjective; everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. However, I honestly think that the things I have mentioned don’t have much chance of being seen as heartening by anyone. Sure, those of you who would like to experience the specific charm of this country and in doing so lowers his expectations what nightlife etc. Is concerned can experience very nice moments here. In general the Cambodians are very friendly and open people; something that applies to those areas at a distance from the usual mass tourism. Something I did notice were the many children and that the Khmer treats them very well. That’s why you see a lot of children smiling with lit up eyes, even though their lives are very simple with them often living in poverty. However, there where things are really bad and they are hungry, one does wonder why it’s like that and oneself has it so good; that’s what happened to me anyway. Humility.
