automatic teller machines - atm
ClitPirate replied to ladydog's topic in General Discussion about Pattaya
There have been a number of posts around the various Thai boards about ATM use causing problems with lost monies. A few different scams but all meaning the money is gone from your account. I have not experence this myself but I have now changed to having a Thai acct where you get a card and pin the day you open up with you provider. I fill it up with a wire transfer or deposit with travelers checks at the branch where I opended the account. The cards are not personalized but work just fine. -
Chang Mai Guest Friendly Hotel

I know that some morons will jump this statement but I think a VERY large majority of hotel in CM are cool with the darlings. Some of the Spa places are probably not open but I can tell you the the Shearton is no problem. You should have no problem finding a cool hotel at your desired rate. I would guess that all the hotels inside the old city are open as well. CM is not Sanukville but there are also alot less punters. -
Buying a desktop computer

Since most notebooks are not made in LOS they get nipped on the duty bud pretty well. I have brought a couple of computers for my BKK Darlings two very bright kids. Both honors students one at the Business University on Sukhumvit and the other at the private school in Rangsit where half the day is done in English. Both kids opted for U.S. mobiles that didn't use Thai script. (I payed again) Only can SMS with friends in english! Buy a Laptop at home and you have no problem. If you need Thai there is subscript that I believe has a keyboard overlay. I think that's what they did the Son -

Hey 45... Here is good link with lots of info on IT places. Just think after you go to Pantip you can catch a cab do New Petch a bit and hit one of many soapies. I need a good soapie after leaving that place. Especially if I hit the Thieves Market in Pratunam, just across the street by the tall hotel. (watch your wallet and cell phone over there) http://www.bangkokbob.net/pantip.html -

As a side note the Zeer Center is part of the Asia Airport Hotel complex so look for the Hotel Sign and you'll find it that way. Be aware that you need to underpass after the hotel to get back on that side of the frontage road. Good DVD/CD in the top floor and one fo the cheapest mobile mall in BKK on the first floor. Food court in the basement. Another good place to look is a the BIG mall complex just north of Zeer. Future Park. There are, was last month, a few computer sotores there. Totally Thai! http://www.futurepark.com/ is the link for that one! -

If you are going to be in BKK I would also recommend the Cigar Shop in the Grand Hyatt. Of course both the J.W. and Grand Hyatt are easy access from the Sky Train. I'll make sure to post a follow up next month when I'm at the Marriott in Pattaya as to that new shop! Sure hope they are going to have some Cuban Rum.

Anybody like to share a ride in car with some comfort departing BKK Int'l about midnight Oct 12th. My drop off will be at the Marriott.

Not having been to the Marriott Cigar Shoppe in Pattaya I can't affirm the origin of the stoggies. I do know that the concept is run from the J.W. in Bangkok where I have purchased many many Cuban cigars. Neary a one has been bad. Properly kept and authenic. I have made a number of trips to Cuba and purchanse many habanos outside of that island and can tell the real product. There are many many fake cuban cigars and for that matter fake Cuban rum in Thailand but the Rum and Cigars at the Marriott in Bangkok is true Cuban. The Thai copy of Havana Club is above average rum but the bottle, l
