  1. I can second the Landmark in Bangkok, soft and great beds. I noted Sunshine on Soi 8 was listed above - do they have soft beds? I think to recall that the hotel should have some rooms with great views, if it's the big yellow building on Soi 8. I take it's of course GF.
  2. I got (March 2006) a quote from Chawla travel, Bangkok, with TG Thai Airways for 15.000THB econony and 33.000 THB Business. I've used his services some years ago and will now again, if I decided to go to Phil.
  3. When in Singapore and with a "significant other", I can recommend the Shangri-La. Excellent 5 star hotel, located just up a small side road to Orchard Road. Luxery, quiet setting and still just 5 minutes walk from Orchard Road.
  4. Druid is correct; promotional period is May/June/July
  5. seems to be some mix-up in "rb"s message above. Soi 7 "Flipper" which he's mentioning is Flipper House, whereas Soi 8 is Flipper Lodge. Flipper Lodge (Soi 8) has NO inroom safe. The 8 night for 7 deals and other are for May/June only as I'm informed, not for July/August.
  6. Yes Samsonite, must be other Airline, because TG 777-200s business class is crap! Where other Airlines in A330/340’s or 777 manage to get a 2+2+2 seat configuration in business class, TG has managed a 2+4+2! I book business class because I want the comfort and then they offer “cattle-class†at business class price. Like a certain Lady in the UK “I weren’t amused†and told the crew so. They were very courteous as Thai staff always is, and I understood that I by no way were the first to complain about those seats.
  7. I’ve read the cheers for the Boeing777-200*s here (wonder why the Stars and Stripes were fling under his name), but the same person hasn’t obviously flown the TG 777-200 configuration in Business Class. I had the misfortune to have such a flight – HK to BKK – and that business class seat was a joke, the smallest seats in C-class I’ve ever seen on any Asian carrier. So PLEASE TG, don’t introduce any more of these 777’s – they obviously could increase number of passengers as claimed possible compared to the Airbus A330/340, but at the cost of passenger comfort. To be frank, I do
  8. I can recommend Khrongfa travel (khrongfa@ego.co.th ) who offer standard car (Toyota/Honda) from BKK to PTY at 1200 baht + toll+parking or limousine at 1500 + toll+parking. Ms. Arunee was the person I spoke with. I noticed a sticker with “Khrongfa Tour Service†on their cars; I interpreted this as that they are licensed tour operator and thus also would have insurance etc. for transporting passengers. Other wise it is same service as mentioned by other: A driver waiting with a signboard with you name after customs clearance, and even waiting when plane was late. I don’t like the ta
  9. with these reports of heavy rain, is the water shortage problem over for the next months or so or is it still a problem now?
  10. Any updates from you guy's staying in the Flipper Lodge Suite - is it worth the extra money?
