  1. Have stayed there twice in the new wing, 1200 per night and did not have any problems. The rooms could be freshened up but i would still recommend the lek for the location, and the cheapest mini bar in Pattaya, also the buffet is good as well. Nice pool area with plenty of sunbeds and cheap drinks at the bar. Hope this has been of some help
  2. the Highlander on soi skaw beach had it at xmas/new year, i'm sure if you asked Faz he would sell you some in bulk, cheers
  3. Any time I return to Pattaya I get a shopping list from a friend who owns a guest house/restaurant for black pudding, pork sausage, mealie pudding, haggis, unsmoked back bacon and colemans english mustard !! I know I am not alone in doing this and suspect a lot of expat owners are sourcing their food like this. I dont mind doing this, as I buy it frozen and wrap it in cool bags so it is still pretty much frozen when I arrive in Pattaya. I suppose the customs at the airport would probably take a dim view, but touch wood no problems as yet. Regards to all
  4. Thanks for the info. The Lek Villa looks good, and i have tried to book through their website but keep getting an error message. I have e mailed the address on their site so hopefully will get the accommodation we require. Cheers guys
  5. Hi all, just tried to book Flipper Lodge for new year but got a reply saying all full from xmas day. We have had a look at the Lek hotel on second road, it looks alright from the outside, anyone any info on this place ???? Cheers Guys
  6. The Highlander on soi skaw beach off second road does an excellent mince & tatties with mealie pudding & fresh veg for anyone wanting a reminder of good scottish food, even although the owner is from london !! (via aberdeen) Kiss on second road is absolute crap-been there twice recently, will not be back!
  7. Stayed there last year,it was alright but dont expect everything that they state in their adverts. Found that any phones ringing anywhere on the floor and everyone was woken by the the constant ringing and the maids banging in and out rooms at all hours. There is better hotels in the price range, but i suppose you could do worse.
  8. Stayed there in May last year, was not impressed. Yes there is in room safe but I had to get reception to open it twice, kept telling me I had wrong code. Only changed safe when I threatened to walk. The place was clean and comfy, but very noisy in rooms with phones ringing down the hall and very lazy staff with a bad attitude to the TGs.Very small pool on roof, couldnt get near it for a party of Germans who seemed to take over the place. As already reported there are better cheaper hotels in the same area. Regards, Northsink
  9. Thanks to all members for their replys. I think it was on an airline / airport forum I saw the report regarding lounge access, but it loks like it is bullsh*t Never mind, its only 8 hours Best regards and a merry christmas to all members
  10. Hi All, Will have nearly an eight hour layover in Dubai, flying with emirates onward to BKK. I have read somewhere that economy passengers with emirates can get lounge access if the lay-over is more than four hours in Dubai. Can anyone verify/elaborate on this ??? Much obliged
  11. Hi all, will be back in Pattaya for new year, and am wondering is it worthwhile to take my mobile to phone home or will it be better to buy a cheap phone and sim card there???? Best Regards to all
  12. Hi,Stayed there in May- June last year and was not impressed.Almost everything they advertised on web site did not happen or did not exist.Buildingwork was going on next door at the time, although I noticed at Xmas it was finished.I dont see how they can be classed as apartments, just big rooms with a small sink and a microwave and kettle. Had a problem with the in-room safe, but it took about six visits and a four hour wait before anything was done. As for the breakfast, well if you like cold soggy chips and warm fruit and fruit juice, then this is the place. If I had not paid for my full
  13. Hi again guys, I will be flying out to Pattaya again on boxing day,(Thank Fcuk!!)and a friend of mine has asked me to bring over some real scottish sausages and black pudding along with tattie scones. What is the story with getting this past customs at BKK ? Is it possible or not worth the hassle it entails ? I dont want to let my mate down, but I dont fancy being Fu+&%"D around by some officious jobsworth at the start of my holiday. Best Regards All, Northsink
