  1. After complaining about the 1st room they gave me, they gave me a room on the top floor. They were working on some of the rooms, putting in new bathroom fitments and some sort of secondary glazing. It was quite noisy and there was a terrible smell of solvents. The water kept getting switched off. There was maybe about 4 rooms done out of about 16. You can tell the ones that were done as they have new doors. The corridor is a mess and the cleaner sleeps on the floor. My room had new carpet and tiles, but the bathroom hadnt been done. As everyone keeps saying, you can still visit the bar, disco an
  2. Its a complete dump, but its an experience. Its totally swarming with TGs. Even the porter who brought back my laundry tried to fix me up with an 18 year old, delivered to my room. I picked up a freelancer in soi 4, before she agreed to stay LT with me in the Nana she wanted a look at the room first. She wouldnt say why, but I guess its because its such a dump. She was married and was only working for 3 days while her husband was away on business, so maybe she was a bit fussy. the " full timers " didnt seem to bother. You can still sample the disco, bar and parking lot without staying there.
  3. Dont wait till youve ran out of baht. Keep checking banks and exchanges as your are walking about and change on a day they have a good rate. You get a better rate in Thailand than the uk. 6000baht is a big difference. You would notice that if you were living on £1000 per month over there.
  4. Does everyone give them lunch money. I have bought them breakfast , but not if they dont come with me. and gave them taxi money (20bht). I must be a cheap charlie.
  5. http://www.niftylist.co.uk/calls/to/thailand/mobile/ I usually use the best minutes one because you dont need to give credit card details.
  6. Although ive used the foodcarts the Tg I was with always ordered the food. Although I obviously paid, I cant remember how much. Can anyone tell me how much the food is? Do they charge per skewer. How much is the rice and the salad. And what is the powder they sprinkle over them while they cook. I nearly choked on one that was too hot. The Tg I was with couldnt speak much english so couldnt explain what was so spicy, but another one I told about it the next day, said it was probably the green veg type thing on the skewer and not the powder that was so hot.
  7. On the main evening news tonight the uk, they talked about leaked emails between the british foreign office, that decided not to mention the 9 murders in the last 18 months too prominently on their website in case it affected Thailands tourist trade. Then they spoke to some idiot travel agent who said he would have a sleepless night if his daughter said she was going there on holiday. I hope there are no more incidents for a while or the press will blow it right up. I think thailand is a lot safer than the uk. Within 2 miles of my house in glasgow, someone was murdered and someone kneecapped w
  8. I stayed there in Nov/ dec . It was basic but ok. The staff are friendly and honest, they returned 30bht change they had forgot to give me. Not a lot of money, but they could have kept it. There are motorbike taxis right outside. I paid £1150 for 18 days including the flight and taxi. The flight alone would have been £480. So I paid a bit much.I would go back if I can get it for the 15000bht for a month. Does anyone have their email address.
  9. Thanks guys. I read the links. Since part of the reason for moving to Pattaya is for an easy life, I think I will shelve the idea of buying.
  10. Does anyone know or can direct me to a site about the ongoing costs of owning a condo. Is it mostly expats in condos. What about fire safety? And how do you get a title search done? thanks.
