I attend this event every year. With the pandemic, there's less international flavor this year but still lots of great jazz music in Thailand. The late King Bhumibol was quite accomplished on the saxophone and his influence promoted the genre. Showed up at Hua Lamphong station at noon and all departures were cancelled until 5 PM. Waited around the station all afternoon. Finally boarded my 2nd class seat in air-conditioned coach for the 6-hour journey. Ticket cost was 402 baht. It's difficult to find good music in Thailand, except for jazz. The late King was a big fan and good with a saxophone. Took the train from Hua Lamphong station last weekend, five hour journey in 3rd class cost 94 baht. Stayed at the Amari The festival featured two stages, on the beach for the international acts and a smaller stage for local artists, lasted two days, and was all FREE. I hadn't been to Hua Hin for 10 years so thought I'd check it out for a few days. Caught the 8:05 AM Diesel Rail Car from Bangkok's Hualamphong Station for a very relaxing 4 hour ride, even had a meal delivered to my seat. Double the minibus fare but much more comfortable. Stayed at the Hilton.
